    Baseball Video Games

Anybody care to venture as to why they don't sell nearly as well as football? Baseball is the second most popular sport in this country and gaining in worldwide appeal. Why do you think baseball videogames do so poorly compared to football? (I think Baseball fantasy leagues do better than football.)

    Re: Baseball Video Games

my take is that true baseball fans are strategy wonks, which is much more demanding as far as AI development and implementation. Add that to the fact that most video game players and the more casual baseball fan are less interested in the nuances of the game and more interested in graphics and a game's "sex" appeal. I think that makes it more difficult to come up with a baseball game with across the board appeal.

Also I don't think baseball is anywhere near the 2nd most popular sport among the newer generations of sports fans(unfortunately).

Have you played any of the games that came out so far? Each game has glitches that are game killers.

I've only played two so far: MLB and MVP. It's impossible to draw walks in MLB, and there's a left-handed homerun bug in MVP. Like if you played a season with the Yankees, A-Rod would hit 45 HR's and Giambi would hit like 6. Haven't played All-Star, but I heard it has bugs-a-plenty as well. And ESPN is basically WSB2K3 with updated rosters. The only series that improved was MLB, but I can't get over the no-walks bug to go out and buy it.

Blah @ the left-handed HR bug. It's not a bug, you just have to learn how to hit differently with your lefties. Trot Nixon, although not on my team, is third in the league with 19 bombs on the season in my dynasty.
