    Possible Zone Fix

Yesterday I played extensively on batting practice with all the various hitting modes. I found that when using zone with Sim (Fastest) pitch speeds, I was crushing the ball out of the park a lot. I was also hitting a lot of hard smashes. I tuned down the speed to classic and noticed the shots weren't as hard and my HRs went down. I still hit em, but not like when the pitch speed was cranked up. I'm thinking pitch speed has a direct effect on the speed of the ball off the bat. I then played a 3 inning game on HOF with classic pitch speed, and I didn't hit a HR. This will require more testing, but its promising. Now, with zone, you won't get the variety of hits that you do with cursor, but you also won't get the ridiculous amount of strikeouts too. Also, I saw Sosa lose the bat for the 1st time on zone, whereas I only saw this on cursor batting in the past. This may be a solution for those struggling with cursor. The reason I hate cursors is it takes my attention away from the game and focuses on an arcadey "aiming" stick. With zone, I focus on the ball, like I do in MVP. I'll test some more tonight and report back.

    Re: Possible Zone Fix

Interesting potential finding..I am going to try HOF on Classic speed myself tonight.

Actually it is funny because I had been playing on Classic speed using zone batting (and cursor on occasion) and had not been seeing a insane amount of HRs, but last night I cranked it up to SIM speed and hit 3 in one game, ended up winning 10-4, which is not out of the range of reason, but is more than I am used to. But hey, 2 of those HRs were 3 run jobs, so....
    Thanks for the advice.

Hmm, I am using Zone batting with Sim pitching style and I dont hit that many HR's as you guys, and I use the Yanks but I also use the right analog stick to bat. I'm also currently 13-8 in my season.

Just to check, I went through the impressions thread to see what the guys hitting all the homers were using and sure enough, the one thing in common was that everyone was using Sim (fastest) pitch speeds. Go to batting practice and check it out. The balls just explode off the bat with sim pitch speed and zone. That explains the singles off the wall. The balls get to the outfield so quickly that the runner has no time to advance to second. Turn the speed down to Classic and the ball comes off the bat with a lot less explosion. The impressions thread gives me hope for zone. If zone is fixed and the singles off the wall is explained by this, then Woo Hoo...the only thing lacking in zone would be foul balls (which don't matter considering pitchers fatigue at the right rate) and screamers down the line. But I'll take that over unrealistic strike out totals.

This might be why I never saw an issue with CPU runners not advancing on gappers. I have used classic speed since day one.

                      Very interesting find indeedy

I hope so because I find myself switching from 2-D cursor to zone hitting in the middle of the game when I get frustrated with the cursor. Also, trying to play with the fastest pitch speed with the cursor is almost impossible.
