    Re: Possible Zone Fix

I have never hit a foul ball to my recollection with zone. maybe the pitch speed will help out in that area too? I think I'll try it tonight. I just hope the slower speed doesnt' mean i'll strike out less, which I do at a reasonable rate on the sim speed!

            Re: Possible Zone Fix

With the excpettion of my first game which was 'slow' pitch, I have used Zone hitting almost exclusively from the start along with 'sim' pitching speed.

I do not recall ever hitting a foul down the line although I know I have seen plenty from the CPU. I played one game on All-Star with 2D cursor and noticed fouls into the backstop which I had not seen at all on Zone from either me or the CPU.

The hr issue was becoming a problem and I rolled through spring training on All-Star busting double homers from guys like Sosa almost every game. I would say I averaged 4 homers a game in the Cactus stadium. For the start of the season I moved the difficulty up from All-Star to HOF.

On HOF with Zone/sim I was still noticing quite a few homers although the number seemed slightly reduced. Still, the majority of my runs were coming off homers.

Last night I left the settings as HOF but moved the pitch speed to Classic. My first game against the Reds produced no homers although the announcers said the wind was blowing in. I didn't strike out as much on "classic" pitch speed but did have a couple. I did score almost 8 runs though, all off of long balls to the wall and extra base hits.

My second game with 'classic' speed was my first season non-simmed loss. In Wrigley, I scored but a single run off a solo homer by Sosa. Had some base hits but no other player that homered. My next game in Wrigley was a 7-3 victory. I only had 2 homers in that game but a lot of doubles. So right now this 'classic' option seems to slow up the homers but I am not sure it is that much more accurate with more gapper doubles from both teams.

I will see how a few more games go but I may just make the leap to cursor batting because the one game I did play had a lot more hit variety.

                  Re: Possible Zone Fix

I played last night and lost to Barry Zito 7-5 in extra innings using the slowest sim speed and analog swing with zone batting. There were 9 foul balls in the game. I had 3 HRs. I am using an expanstion team, and part of the issue is that I have Phil Nevin. Phil Nevin is rated 100 in power from against left handed pitchers. That is really high. So the fact he hit one out, might be kind of off.

There are quite of few doubles in the game at this level.

My problem with this is yeah it my lower homerun production but it still doesn't fix the no strikeout problem i just don't strikeout what ever i do in zone hitting. So i'm just staying with the cursor which i don't mind using anyway, plus on the upper level on line u can only use the cursor so it helps you hone your skills for online play
