Looking for an answer from ASBman or any other developers...

What exactly is the Contact swing, versus the Power swing.
Obviously, the power swing is just that, an attempt to jack it out, or at least pound it into the wall, etc.
But a Contact swing has a couple assumed rolls... One where you hit the ball, and are just trying to hit the gaps or holes.
The second, is using a contact swing, so as to make contact, so that the batter does not strike out... or to make contact so that the hit and run, runner is not going to get into a double play. etc.
Now after 2 years (seasons) of play, and very limited documentation in the manual, I'm still not sure which it's suppose to be. One thing I know for sure, if you alternate too much in an at bat, between power and contact, the end result is getting your batter struck out.

So would someone From the All Star Baseball Developers, please explain what the difference is for them, and how it applies to their game.

I love this game! Best baseball game on the market, but this is one thing that I really would like a definitive answer on.

    Yes, I second this inquiry.

Actually, any strategies/ideas behind the manage-only mode you guys could impart on us in order to get the best results would be greatly appreciated.

I am not a developer, but I will offer you my opinion which has helped me enjoy the game more. Rather than think of the Power swing as the "Jack it out" button, and the contact swing as the "Normal Swing", I think of the power swing as the "Normal Swing", and the contact swing as the "I have two strikes on me, I just need to get the ball in play" swing. I only use contact with two strikes or with a hitter that has a substantially larger contact zone than power zone. I rarely get an extra base hit with the contact swing.

Good question though. I would be interested in the official response as well.

isnt it true that you get the same hit regardless? as long as you make square contact i mean?

lets take A-Rod as an example....hes got a giant beach ball for his power icon....now, if i hit with him using the "contact" swing, i can still crush the ball as long as its centered in the "beach ball"....if there is something more to it, like just by simply hitting the "power swing" button the game engine recognizes that the ball will travel farther, well this i would like to know
