    After some experiments/games

Ok, I've now played several games with ASB, and I have a few personal findings.

Although I like the idea of Smart counts, I don't think they work as well as I thought initially. Pitchers get too tired too fast. Also, I think that having high counts makes stealing rarer. I have yet to see a steal while using Smart counts. A generated count of 1-1 may be perfect, but as I get better at the game, I'm able to get the CPU to have higher pitch counts.

I think the 3-D cursor is the best of the batting options. The control you have is very good, but not unrealistic. Just because you aim a hit a certain way doesn't mean you are going to hit it that direction. It's nice because if there are holes in the infield, or you need a pop fly, you have more control over getting that to happen. In fact, because of the control, my offense is a bit better using the 3-d cursor.

I know cursors are thought of in a bad light, but I liked it last year, and this year, it is still the best option for me, at least.

    Anyway, just thought' I'd share

i agree with you on the smart counts, pitchers get worn out way too easily.....ilaready tried what you said and set the count to 1-1, and they still seemed to tire a bit fast, but not too bad.....these days im using a count of 1-0, and i like the results of that, pitchers generally are getting pretty tired in the 6th & 7th, 8th inning for those with larger stamina....have to play some more with 1-1 to re-check the results though

im also starting to prefer the 3-d cursor, it will help you manufacture some runs here and there, which i desperately need help with

have you noticed any difference between the power and contact swings though? i dont really see one, but i also havent tried the power swing exclusively very often

          Re: After some experiments/games

I'm not too sure about the power/contact swing difference either. Basically, ever since I've played ASB, I use power first for the first two strikes and then shift to contact if I haven't gotten a hit.

Now I will use contact if I am really trying to aim my hit (or if the player has a horrible power area, but a great contact area).

So because of how I use the power swing, I do see a difference in that the home runs I hit are with power swings, but I know you can hit a HR without a power swing too.

For me, the difference is the control. With a contact swing, it's like you slow down your swing and focus on aiming rather than power. It's just a trade-off. But you definitely can still hit the long ball with a contact swing.

Their pitch counts are pretty high, even by real life standards. A decent pitcher might have thrown 100+ by the 5th inning, and they will have nothing left on their fatigue meter.

I mean, it's not way-way off. Look at Pedro last night - he had an inning where he threw 30 pitches. But I think this game built the fatigue model around the fact that video game pitchers don't have as high of pitch counts. So a real life pitcher that has thrown 50 pitches is still doing ok, in ASB a pitcher than has thrown 50 pitches is getting winded.

Heck, even Lyon said something when one of my pitchers had 50 pitches through 3 innings, saying how much it was.
