Do you just press the stick for a bit in the direction and pitch? And what sorts of results do you get by not using the icon??

Help w/ no pitching icon
I've played ASB for the past 3 or so years, but have never been able to play without the pitching icon. I know a lot of people hate it, because it gives them too much control, but I want to know how you use it??

It's the same procedure as when you use it with the icon.
Go through the steps when using the icon, switch to no icon and then use those same steps.

Thanks!
Do you feel that not using an icon creates better results?Comment

Re: Help w/ no pitching icon
Yeah, I'm stuck with the cursor as well.
One thing I don't care for in ASB is the aim doens't snap back like it does WSB's. This makes it much harder to feel where your at in the zone and also gives no easy way to reset back to center should you get lost.
In ASB I use the D-Pad instead of the stick. So now I have a pretty good feel for how many taps of the D-Pad all the pitch locations are which might help if I ever feel like going without the aim.
Right now I am not worried. ASB mixes up pitches pretty good so only with the really accurate guys are you sure your pitch is going to be on the mark and even that is before any fatigue sets in.Comment

Re: Help w/ no pitching icon
You get used to it. What I like is that you're not 'pinpointing' pitches and there's the possiblity you might think you're throwing it low and outside, but you've made a mistake and pretty much grooved it.
You have to play with the icon off. There are no icons in real baseball.Comment

Re: Help w/ no pitching icon
I just played my first full game - no Icon, and I liked it. I got hammered for 7 runs against the Giants. My massively unimpressive offense just barely squeaked by one run in the 9th.
It is fun though, and I just had to get used to it. I'm currently playing on HOF default, and it's difficult but good. You really find yourself fishing for the corners on occasion, and yes, I did groove one that ended up in the bleachers for a 3 run homer.
Thanks for the tips. Now if I can only solve the Dodgers offensive problems. Shoot, even Tracy hasn't been able to do that!
