GI gave ESPN better first impression grades than MVP, but still gave MVP some high ratings. They didn't give ASB any ratings over 80. They didn't give ESPN any rankings under 90. I officially don't trust Video Game Reviewers...

My one major problem with ASB is the lack of sliders. If you could do things like adjust CPU/user outfielder speed and hitting power this game would truely rock but as it stands now it is a very good game that doesn't quite realize it's full potential. The franchise modes and all that other stuff is superb but the play on the field suffers from several problems that IMO detract from the game ie: when the play just stops to cut to the next batter even though the ball is still in play this has happened to me a number of times. The replays are atrocious half the time when you look at a hit the ball has actually gone by the hitter and looks like the ball is comeing from either the ground or the catchers mitt. the fielders throwing in the opposite direction from the way they are looking. Maybe these are small things to some people but to me they are pretty big flaws because they affect the gameplay in just about every game.
I'm not here to judge one game against the other but to point out some problems that I think are keeping ASB from being a truely great baseball game.

a 3? thats just absurd.....NO game is a 3, even the most horrid games known to man (Triple Play series comes to mind) are worth at least a 5......why even bother

Who cares. I am playing ASB and enjoying it. On the other hand, bandwagon Patsfan is a big MVP fanboy so you have to wonder if his game is so fantastic -- WHY he is trolling the ESPN and ASB forums instead of playing baseball?

Its easy to say a reviewer sucks when they give a game you like low marks, but I can say without even seeing the review that if a guy named Jeff Pearlman did it, he is the most asinine, ridiculous, mis-informed idiot I've ever had the displeasure of reading an opinion of. He slammed ASB last year because the batter disappeared right before the fight on a mound charge. Wasted a WHOLE freakin paragrapgh on that ALONE, and the review was only 4 paragraphs...unbelievable. I've never been one for payola conpiracy theories, but this jerk-off has to be on the EA payroll. Complete buffoon.

I gotta agree with truckie for the mostpart....there are some things that effect gameplay...drives me nuts! I play mostly online and when i do play offline..I only use the settings allowed to me online. Fielder cam is nice and fun but should not be the only pick online. I will definitly keep it and enjoy it but I will try out espn this weekend and see if the gameplay is right for me.
