Re: In-Depth Baseball Roundup: MVP; ESPN; ASB

Liked the comparison, but was hoping for a bit more info on the three regarding Franchise Mode since that's where I'll probably get my most play from. It sounds like ASB has the deepest mode overall from the online reviews, but I'm curious primarily in areas such as:

    1. CPU moves: Do the other teams trade, set lineups, negotiate with players, draft, etc, realistically?

    2. Scouting & Development: How do the three games do in this part of the game? I like 'fuzzy ratings'. If a game offers them (based on how good the scouts are) it gets an immediate plus in my book. Needless to say, there has to be a way of evaluating the scouts too. Is player development realistic? This includes things like a player maybe being hurt developmentally if they're brought up from the minors too soon, or perhaps hurt developmentally if not brought up soon enough (an older version of High Heat had this down pretty good).

    3. Statistics & Almanacs: Does the game have realistic stats, and more importantly are the stats tracked from year to year, and even more importantly, can you compare current players with those that have retired? Is there any kind of a hall of fame?

These are things I look for in Franchise Mode. One of the problems with ASB, which otherwise I get the impression would run away with the scoring here, is that the Franchise mode is only for 20 years. Then again, given I've never completed a 20 year franchise in anything....

I like most of the things you said about ASB and I think you are giving MVP too much credit, but the only major discrepency I saw was that you gave ASB such a bad rating for Feilding. ASB's feilding takes a little while to get used to, but overall once you do you feel like you earn it whenever you make a good play, just as you would if you were actually fielding the ball. If you give it a chance, give it time, the fielding can be VERY immersive. I demand it recieves at least a B+ or A- rating. As for fun factor, I also think that's misrepresented, but not too poorly. I agree with most of what was said, but you gave MVP way too many A's.
