Cant Get Into It
I have loved All Star Baseball for so long but just cant get into it. I started Playing MVP since it got released earlier. I find that All Star baseball seems to be in slow motion, like the pitching, fileding, etc. I play on the Classic pitching, and have tried the Sim level, but it just seems as if the hard curves are inpossible to hit. I play on 2-D cursor aswell. I really love All Star but it is killin me to play it, any way to make the pitching animations quicker. ThanksTags: None -

Re: Cant Get Into It
It's interesting to hear your thoughts on ASB.
I was the biggest ASB fanboy for the 2003 and 2004 versions.
But I have yet to play this year's release.
Currently, I am playing MVP. I like it a lot but the lack of lefty HRs and the fact that the CPU will not steal really bother me. Having the XBOX version, I am unable to modify it like the PC users can.
I am still thinking of buying ASB 2005 just so I can use the Expansion mode -- which I think is unrivaled by any other game.
Although I am enjoying MVP, I miss ASB just a little.Congratulations BUTLER BULL DOGS!

I have both MVP and ASB this year and its difficult for me to say which is better. MVP has, IMO, better gameplay, simply because the Zone Hitting and their use of the right analog stick are excellent. Also, I find fielding and pitching fun, because of the smooth animations, the meters, and just the overall variety of animations. However MVP has too many flashy diving catches, as you said, the CPU doesnt steal enough, and I'm not sure about the lefty-HR bug but I have noticed more righty-HRs, maybe just because I have more of them on my team.
ASB's sheer depth allows me to play it over and over again. I love the franchise mode a lot more than MVP's, the game itself is very customizable allowing for a lot of different ways to play the game, and there are other modes such as Batting Practice, HR Derby, the This Week In Baseball Scenario Mode, Trivia Game, Expansion Mode, and even Stadium Tours. I love the stadiums in ASB and the collision detection, but I do realize that the gameplay lacks the funfactor MVP has.
SoMiss I can see what your saying, I find MVP to be alot more fun sometimes, but ASB isn't too far behind IMO. I get a lot of close games, which are sometimes good enough for me. In the long run, if you want fun gameplay which still manages to be pretty realistic, MVP is probably the game for you. ASB has realistic gameplay but without the frills and excitement of MVP. Believe me, its improved from last year, the crowd is more responsive and there are a lot of different chants and even different national anthems and seventh inning stretches, but the crowd's overall volume pales in comparison to MVP's. The fielding is a bit tricky sometimes and the animations get repetitive and are often unresponsive. But I love both games for what they offer. MVP just doesnt provide me with the franchise mode I want so ASB is that much better in my eyes. It all depends on what type of game your looking for.Comment

Re: Cant Get Into It
I will hopefully try to speed up the game. I totally agree with all the comments that have been posted on this thread. I dont think last yrs allstar baseball was as slow in the pitching windup and stuff like that. MVP just seems to be more real life speed?? i realy love All Star baseball, but this is killing me when I'm facing Curt Shilling or Kerry Wood, and the windup takes 5 mins, then the ball is on you like a fly on SH!T. I know pitchers like Mark Prior are like, in how they lull you into a trace by there slow windup then it is on you. I find the rest of the game to play alright. I wish i had the brains to incorprate All Star Baseball into MVP.
I would take from MVP:
Game Speed
Animations
Presentation
Pitch Speed
I would take from ASB:
Graphics (WOW)
Depth of Game
Futures Game
All Star Homerun Derby
TWIB
I would pay 100 bucks for a baseball game if Acclaim and EA would put there heads together and make the game. Could Call it Ultimate Baseball 2004, lol. Well i can only dreamComment
