Random Counts are the way to go

After trying everything, from random, to smart, to static generated (1-0, 1-1) counts, RANDOM counts do the best in simulating real baseball.

Pitch counts are VERY VERY dead on. Pitchers will have good days and bad days. Some innings, it feels like I couldn't get anybody out, always start with 3-0 counts.

I can definitely draw walks, and will give out walks on occasion. Pitchers will get tired between the 5th and 8th innings (depending on how he's doing). And I've had really different results. Some pitchers duels, some HR fests (on All-Star).

This is also with no edits or anything like that. I feel that pitcher fatigue is very realistic. Your bar is pretty much depleted with 100 pitches (for most good starters).

Anyway, I thought I'd share this. I still think ASB is probably the best baseball game I've ever played. I'm having a blast with it! It's very realistic with the stats, gameplay is very realistic, love the graphics, and the franchise is unbeatable!

Most definitely. They just seem to be perfect for the game this year.

Yep..I said it from the start...random counts unless it is a really tight game going into the eighth...then I turn off gen counts all together. That's one of the beautiful things about ASB...being able to change gen counts during the game!

Re: Random Counts are the way to go

I like Random counts, but I have been enjoying 2-1 counts a little more. Games still move along at a great pace and I get a good number of walks. While I do miss some of the suspense with the random counts, it is nice to have a pitch to work with from both sides of the plate with every at bat. On offense I always have the opportunity to bunt or steal, and while pitching there is a chance to tempt a batter to chase one.

Pitch counts are probably a little higher than reality, but in my experience, starters in ASB05 can throw a few more pitches than they should be able to, so it all evens out. My starters usually go 6 or 7 innings, and complete games are not out of the question.

Generated counts are awesome. I don't know if I could ever go back to a game without them.
