    Questions about the game....

All of the baseball games that have come out have left me disappointed,so ASB is my final hope. Here are my questions, please answer honestly:

on the hardest difficulty is the game a challenge but yet realistic at the same time?

After I get good at the game will i just be able to completely dominate, hitting HRs whenever i want etc. etc. (on the hardest difficulty)

I've heard some bad things about the fielding cam, is it just that some people arent used to it and screw things up, but it gets better as you go along, or are there really some problems that cant be fixed?

In franchis emode does it keep up with player stats from year to year?

Is the franchise mode as good as everyone says?

    Re: Questions about the game....

Questions 1, 2, and 3: No. You can't Dominate at any level in this game, except maybe Rookie, and I'll bet dime to dollar (haven't tried rookie) that you'll still give up runs on that no matter how good you are. Some people are just incredibly good at the game, but that's like....less than 5% of those who've played it (at least the ones that have come here to OS). But yeah, there's no level so far that I've been able to dominate at. You might get really good at fielding, or pitching, but they add in errors here and there and mistake pitches. I've gotten pretty good at the game, and I still lose alot. The pitch speeds on the difficulty settings cause the most difference in difficulty. It's really REALLY hard to describe this part of the game because it's SO DIFFERENT from every other Baseball game out right now.

Question 4: Fielding Cam is just hard to get used to. Don't believe all the BS man, you just gotta get used to it, and THEN try it yourself and tell me you don't like it. I'd be amazed. Ever felt like that amazing diving catch your outfielder made was something you actually EARNED? Yeah, that's what the Fielding Cam does for you. Stealing a homer will never be the same. GROUNDOUTS will never be the same. You just have to play it for a while to the point you rarely make common mistakes, and then it just gets really realistic and addictive.

Question 5: I haven't checked, it might or might not. They said they would track minor league stats and they don't, so it might not. During the year however, in the player profile it will show the players current stats, and it will show those stats until the next season begins.

Question 6: Better. WAAAY Better than anyone says it is, and they say alot about it. You just have to see the Parks and how well they've been done, the ability with Fielder Cam to see approximately 360 degrees of the field, the textures, the specific little things and details about each park that most other games leave out....just gotta see it for yourself man.

Most of the questions you have can only be answered fully by playing the game for 20-30 hours and deciding for yourself. Sorry to say.

          thanks, a couple more questions.

the last ASB game i owned was 2003, and it took FOREVER to finish a game. does the game move along faster than it did then?

Is it possible to draw walks? this is a problem with all of the other games, the CPU just doesnt seem to throw enough balls....

Personally I think it moves alot faster. Sometimes faster than I'd like. I'm the kinda guy that WANTS to spend an hour playing one game. Most games don;t take but like 30 minutes, really.

They don't come very often, but they do come. Mostly Intentional Walks, though. The real problem is walking people with your pitchers. I've done it a couple times with pitchers that have bad control, but over-all, even though they have alot more mistake pitches figured into this years version, it's still not more than one or two a game if you're lucky. That's been one of the main complaints with this year's version, is that even though they fixed mistake pitches to happen more often, pitches are still made frequently with pinpoint control.

While generated counts aren't for everyone, I love them. Not only to they speed up the pace of play, but they also encourage walks. I believe ASB is the only game with them, and you have several alternatives for how they are set up. There are some other threads out there that detail them a bit more.
