I'm afraid to ask, but what is wrong with zone hitting?

RedsFan,
Yes, edited the players. It's not as time consuming as you might think. Before each series against a team you can go to the opposing team and do the editing.
1. Take the outfielders and drop their RANGE and ARM STRENGTH. Take a look at range. Many slow outfielders are rated A in their RANGE capability, doesn't make sense.
2. Go to each player and up their speed rating. I upped all except the slowest players to B. Take a look at many of the players. Many are rated at speed of D. That's one reason they don't advance or tag up.
3. Up the infielders ARM STRENGTH (it will offset the speed increase of playrs on close plays).
I also upped the pitchers RANGE to see if they would cover those choppers in front of the plate better.
Knight has numbers on PITCHER STAMINA that you can PM him as I've forgotten what I did.
And yes, sliders would take care of this, but it's a long season and if you're only going to be playing ASB I tell you it's worth it.
It saved the game for me.

Can you be a little more specific with regard to how much you lower/raise a rating? It would be helpful in knowing exactly what to do.Comment

Re: Returned to ASB
There are a lot of settings for the generated pitch counts. The main ones are Smart Count (which takes the pitcher and his ratings to use) and Random. Pitch Counts usually run a bit too high.
Walks, they depend on who you're facing. You won't see too many against the good control pitchers, there will be a couple.Comment
