      Re: Returned to ASB

WELL LET ME JUST WORK OFF WHAT I POSTED EARLIER. I'LL POST MY RESPONSE IN CAPS.

Yes, edited the players. It's not as time consuming as you might think. Before each series against a team you can go to the opposing team and do the editing.

      1. Take the outfielders and drop their RANGE and ARM STRENGTH. Take a look at range. Many slow outfielders are rated A in their RANGE capability, doesn't make sense.

I DROPPED THE OUTFIELDER RANGE AND ARM RATINGS TO C+. I DIDN'T TOUCH THEIR SPEED RATING.

      2. Go to each player and up their speed rating. I upped all except the slowest players to B. Take a look at many of the players. Many are rated at speed of D. That's one reason they don't advance or tag up.

THIS ONE SELF EXPLANATORY. IF THEY HAD A RATING HIGHER THAN A 'B' I LEFT IT AT THAT, BUT EVERYONE, EXCEPT THE EXTREMELY SLOW, FOR INSTANCE, EDGAR MARTINEZ, GOT AT LEAST 'B' SPEED RATINIG

      3. Up the infielders ARM STRENGTH (it will offset the speed increase of playrs on close plays).

I UPPED THE ARM STRENGTH OF FIELDERS TO AT LEAST A B+. IF THEY HAD A HIGHER RATING I LEFT IT THERE. THAT OFF SET THE UPPING OF THE RUNNERS SPEED A BIT AND CUT DOWN ON RUNNERS BEATING OUT TOO MANY BALLS, ESPECIALLY DOUBLE PLAYS. I HAVE SEEN MORE DOUBLE PLAYS TURNED THIS WAY.

I also upped the pitchers RANGE to see if they would cover those choppers in front of the plate better.

I JUST UPPED THEIR RANGE TO 'A'. THE BIG PROBLEM WITH PITCHERS IS THEY SOMETIMES TURN THE WRONG WAY WHEN THROWING TO FIRST. I'M NOT SURE HOW MUCH THIS HAS HELPED, BUT I SEE MORE OUTS AT FIRST INSTEAD OF HITS (BECAUSE OF THE DEFAULT WINDUP THEY GO INTO WHEN THEY THROW) I THINK IT WORKS.

Knight has numbers on PITCHER STAMINA that you can PM him as I've forgotten what I did.

I HAVEN'T LOOKED, BUT I UPPED MANY PITCHERS STAMINA. A TON OF THEM HAVE 'D' RATINGS. FOR EXAMPLE, I TOOK A 'D' RATING AND UPPED HIM TWO GRADES, TO A 'C' (REMEMBER THERE IS A C- RATING). I UPPED ALL STARTERS TO AT LEAST A RATINGS.

And yes, sliders would take care of this, but it's a long season and if you're only going to be playing ASB I tell you it's worth it.

THAT'S ABOUT IT. I SELDOM, IF EVER, HAVE A BALL HIT OFF THE WALL FOR A SINGLE. I'VE MAYBE SEEN IT TWICE IN MY FIRST 25 GAMES. I HAVEN'T SEEN A RUNNER FAIL TO TAG UP ON THE BASEPATHS WHEN HE SHOULD.

AM NOW ENJOYING THE GAME IMMENSELY. EVEN GOT CURSOR BATTING DOWN. IF THERE'S ANYTHING ELSE.......

It saved the game for me.

Thank you for taking the time to write your modifications.

However, I'm not sure how happy I'll be with the changes. You say that you change all outfielders to a c+ arm? So esentially every OF in the league will have the same arm strength? The same goes with infielders arms (changing them all to about the same level) and pitchers stamana. To me, it seems that this will not make the players different at all in performance.

                  Re: Returned to ASB

                  It's not that noticable.

It's a trade off. Do you like the excitement of a close game where the CPU rallies with two outs with runners on second and third, down by 3 and the CPU runner stops at first base on a ball hit off the 396 sign in right center and the runner on second doesn't score?

That's the ultimate killer for me. I like to win and like the feel of a good loss too.

Do you think guys like Brian Buchanan should have outfield ranges of A? Doesn't make sense to tme that he's rated the same as Mark Kotsay (I'm not sure that it's these particular players, but just look at the ratings and see if they make sense).

Do the worst runners in baseball deserve D, D- ratings and the best A, A+? That's a big, big difference, and there are a lot of runners rated D (speed). Take a look at some of this.

Maybe you can do an experiment with one team and see how you like it. If you want leave the guys with the real guns (in real life like Vlad) with A rating ARM STRENGTH and change the rest.

I'm telling you, it's a completely different feeling game with the tweaks.

Editing pitchers throws off their effectiveness rating.. a very important rating in this game.

                              So beware.
