    To steal using Classic, hold Y and press the direction of the base you are currently on on the direction pad.

      Yes, stealing bases. I can't find my instruction manual.

      I'm playing on CLASSIC running and I'll be danged if I can figure out how to steal. I've pushed the left shoulder button, everything and am having a heck of a time.

      Someone also mentioned that the pitchers 'slide step'? Is that right? How do you make them do it?

      On the XBox to steal you hold the left trigger and press the button of the base you are on. For slide step pitching you hold the pitch button instead of pressing it. Slide steps must be done when playing on line to even have a chance to throw out a runner. Not quite as big a difference in franchise mode.

                  Jim;
                  When you are pitching...instead of just tapping the pitch button....hold it down, this will make your pitcher slide step.

                  As far as the edits...yes it does screw up some of the other ratings, but if you just edit the pitchers weight and recheck the ratings...you can get it close to what it was. A COMPLETE pain in the arse...but it works. Acclaim....this might be my single biggest gripe about the game....the player editor. It needs improving...PLEASE!

                        In batting practice w/Willie Stargell hitting sliders up the middle w/the 2D Cursor, I hit ropes all over Tiger Stadium. That and using the hot-cold zones along with pitching history seem to help. Playing All Star w/classic pitch speed seems to work out all right. I've had hits to all points of the field (except down the line, which requires pulling the ball). I can foul balls straight ba but not the other ways yet; OOH! That's right. I had a foul pop-up toward the 3rd base side. Now guessing the pitch or location: only use when ahead in the count; otherwise forget it. Am still learning the hitting system and baserunning, but have mastered pitching and fielding.

                              I find I hit much better with the 3-D cursor. Pitching is doing OK, but I keep forgetting the baserunning controls. I guess that's what I get for switching back a forth to MVP!

                              My fielding still stinks, but the more I play with the fielder cam the more I like it! Just wish I could figure out when to jump or dive from it!
