Possible Game Killer
Before being flamed let me state that I am a long time player of the ASB series, I have logged countless hours on this game, and feel the game has a lot to offer; however, I have suffered through some situations that is causing this game to slip from "the game." #1 on the list is the non-aggressive baserunning. Situation: I am the Rangers playing the Angels. 0-0 game in the top of the eighth. Glaus doubles, and Davanon is inserted as the pinch runner. I end up loading the bases on an intentional and unintentional walk. With one out, Molina hits a long towering fly to centerfield, Nix has to go way back to haul it in. I'm going, "Great, their goes the game." What happens is that no runners advance, bases are still loaded, I strike out Kennedy to end the inning. This was terrible. It brought back the old feelings of games past. Games that didn't do the simple things right. Before I brandish this game obsolete, I would like some constructive feedback from some of you veterens. Was this an isolated incident (which I highly doubt because I have seen other instances of tenative baserunning), or is this a reoccuring problem with this game for others? Thanks in advance for the feedback.Tags: None -
Re: Possible Game Killer
I have had the CPU be passive at times and others they are agressive. After making a play or two by cutting down a runner somewhere, they start to freeze up and become very tentative. I would say I have seen more of what should be done versus the CPU not doing it though. I play on legend but dont know if that makes a difference or not.S.O.S Crew

Re: Possible Game Killer
I've played A LOT of games thus far and haven't seen the situation you describe very often. I have seen it though and I agree that it's frustrating. However, I have also seen the CPU tag when maybe they shouldn't and so on. It seems like sometimes they're too tenative and other times they're overly aggressive. Most of the time though, from what I've seen anyway, it's about right on with what I'd expect.Comment

Re: Possible Game Killer
It only happens once every like....one thousand games....at least that's what it sounds like....only ever happened with me off of a fly ball to Barry Bonds, who at the time was probably close enough to mow the guy down just barely at home anyways.Comment

Re: Possible Game Killer
I am now totally zoned in on the baserunning, analyzing all situations. So many times I see the passive baserunning instead of the expected. I should have mentioned I am playing on manage mode. I did change baserunning from normal to classic, whatever that is. I still saw a situation where there were 2 outs, runner at second, and a base hit to the gap, the baserunner at second held at third. He was at third before the outfielder even attempted to throw the ball in. Now I am not ragging on some minor aspect of this game. Baserunning is a huge part of the game, and baserunning is the only thing holding me back from totally committing to this game this year. Keep it coming vets. Thanks.Comment

Re: Possible Game Killer
Normal and Classic is only there if you are controlling the runners. It is just a different button config for baserunning.
Check out some of the other threads, Knight and Jim have both put a lot of work into what you can do to increase the AI Baserunning.Comment
