    what a joke

You aren't going to believe this...I still don't. Ok, I make the playoffs with the Cubs playing the Braves. My pitching has carried me all year. I lead the league in ERA by far even pitching most of the season on legend with strike zone, pitching aid, and vibration all turned off. I went back even and reduced OF range across the board to make pitching more difficult and I've dropped down to All-sar level because of that; but I still pitch well..ok..

Game 1- Prior pitching..the Braves hit screaming line drives off of him..every hitter. I bring in Zambrano in relief in the 3rd..same thing...Braves score 11 runs on 18 hits in the first 4 innings..Both guys with sub 3 ERA's all of a sudden can't get anyone out. What';s worse is I can tell it's all scripted, I have no control over it. IDuring the whole season I played I could barely throw a ball out of the strike zone if I tried. Now all of a sudden..even the slightest touch of the direction pad and it's a ball duringthe first four innings. I also commit 3 errors on auto field and have two plays were the fielder inexplicably throws to the wrong base when I should get an out somewhere. The rest of the game...no problem throwing strikes and getting outs..only 1 more run scored; but I obviously lose.

Game 2- OK I figure Game 1 is one of those fluke things. I've got Clement going who lead the league in ERA much of the season. Forget that. First 7 hitters get screaming hits. Six runs score. AGain any touch of the directional pad results in a ball. The rest of the way I give up only 1 run and just a few hits...So bring on the offense to get back into it..Right? Sure..everything I hit hard the opposing fielder barely has to move..They play me perfectly including positioning Andrew Jones on the left center field warning track to easily catch a Todd Walker linee drive without moving an inch..I kid you not. I manage 3 hits in the game. 2 of them with two outs in the 9th.

I am both amused and furious. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this. I played all of my games during the season. Nothing remotely close to this ever happened. It was so scripted. The only thing I can figure is they wrote some kind of postseason AI logic to keep anyone from winning it all in their first season( I guess to keep people playing) and screwed it up OR they wanted to build some kind of a "curse of the Cubs" into the game and overdid it. Unbelievable.

    "curse of the Cubs"

Sounds like the curse to me.

I just played a game and beat the Pirates 5-3. Now I play Veteran (mix it up with All Star sometimes), classic pitch speed, 2D cursor, random count, assisted fielding.

I swear the CPU hit line drive after line drive at my fielders. I should have gotten creamed, but they were all "atim" balls.

I'm 21-20 in my season in fourth place 2 games back and have played every game.

I am experiencing something very similiar. It isn't playoffs, but I am about 120 games in, playing slightly over .500 ball. All of a sudden it seems that the CPU has decided I have a few too many wins, and the games are feeling very scripted.

The CPU starts out in a blaze, even against my aces. He will take anything out off the zone and rip anything in the zone. I mix up pitches and location as I have successfully for 120+ games, but after 2 or 3 innings, I am down 7 or 8 to zip. From there the CPU will put it into cruise control. I may get a few token runs, but if I get within striking distance, I can count on a cpu run of texas leaguers and untimely errors by my defense, and MVP like defensive gems by the CPU. What makes it suspicious, is that once down by double digit numbers, I can put in a horrible reliever who is exhausted, throw meat down the middle, and the CPU suddenly can't muster anything together.

Very frustrating. This game has so much to offer, that I can overlook many of the glaring flaws that turn so many people off. But the scripted feeling is a tough one for me to get by.

                Re: what a joke

I'm in early September and I was swept by the Expos in Montreal. During the next series versus Florida I was was up 8-3 going into the ninth and Mercker/Hawkins got tagged big time with the Cubs losing 11-8. That was one of the weirdest games I've played all season. Mind you I'm only 4 games in first w/ Houston right behind me, having a 4 game skid in Spetember is nail-bitting but lucky I won the next 2 games. I looking forward to the playoffs *crosses fingers*
Coming is my style, but I have to go.
