IGN has reviewed MLB Slugfest: Loaded.

Their closing comments are as follows:

<ul type="square">Presentation: 8.5
SlugFest does pretty much everything it advertises. There’s a lot of eye-candy throughout the game to keep you interested even if you aren’t playing.

Graphics: 7
The player faces are mapped extraordinarily well. It’s a little cartooney, but hey, it’s an arcade game, not a simulation.

Sound: 6
The announcers are annoying, and the crowd noise is completely unrealistic.

Gameplay: 8
There are some issues with defensive control as well as baserunner control. Other than that, it’ll keep you captivated.

Lasting Appeal: 8.5
Obviously, this game will be dated by spring training next season. The online roster updates will keep the game current, and that should hold you over until the next version is released.

It is amazing that with all the mediocre baseball games that came out this year that there isn't more interest in Slugfest. Midway you are our only hope!

I think Midway's Slugfest this year is going to be a lot like NHL Hitz Pro and hockey games earlier this year.

Hitz Pro really turned it's act around and added a few sim elements, and it played a great game of hockey.

I think Slugfest has the potential to be that kind of sleeper this year. I have played MVP a lot, but just am not "into it" this year, nor am I into ESPN's baseball game. It would be neat if I can get into Slugfest, and the fact that they are including a franchise mode is great for me, and could be the feature that makes me pick up this game when it's released.
