Too many to count but the one's mentioned here top my list as well. I also really enjoyed the first Tony LaRussa on the Genesis even though the game looked pretty ugly, even back then, and the hitting interface was lacking. I think that may be the only game I ever actually completed a 162-game season in. I really loved LaRussa 95 because the graphics were much and improved and a lot of the gameplay issues were fixed as well but for whatever reason it would never save my season. After maybe a few games my save was always gone. If I'm not mistaken there was some issue with the cartridge battery that EA never made right.

Re: Other retro baseball games did you play?
I still have my copy of Baseball Simulator 1.000. Played that way too much when it was new.
I also still have copies of every High Heat baseball on the PC. I think it was 2002 that I scanned hundreds of baseball cards in order to use the images for a historical roster set I made.
Still play MVP 2005 from time to time.
I played many, many others, but these were the ones that sucked away the most time from me.Comment

Re: Other retro baseball games did you play?
NES:- *Baseball - It was super basic, yet fun, and had a sound for strikes, contact, ball flight, running etc I can still recall years and years after playing.
- *Baseball Stars - Borrowed this from school friend. Spent tons of time setting up seasons of beanball vs cpu to supersize our own teams to go h2h. Always hoping the data would not wipe from the cart.
- Dusty Diamonds All-Star Softball - This game always comes to mind when I think of retro sports gaming. You picked players by their heads like in a schoolyard draft. Everybody seemed to have different strengths you had to figure out by just playing them at a position. Each of the six or so fields had different rules based on its environment.
Genesis/snes
- World Series Baseball- I used to love playing short seasons w random teams. Grapics were good for the time. I guess growing up through the "silent era" of sports commentary made me appreciate what it is now. People who rag on the show for hearing the same thing twice probably never played WSB.
- Ken Griffy JR: Winning Run - My friend and I would sit and play 3 inning games of this for hours.

Re: Other retro baseball games did you play?
Hardball series(Apple, PC)
Bases Loaded series(NES, SNES)
World Class Baseball(TG-16)
Ken Griffey Jr. series(SNES, N64)
High Heat Baseball series(PC)
Super Baseball 2020(SNES)
Baseball Stars(NEO-GEO)
Real Sports Baseball(Atari 2600)
Triple Play series(PlayStation)
MVP Baseball series(XBOX)
Probably missing some others. There was a Baseball simulator I played on the Apple IIc and I can't remember the name of it. Also I recall playing a baseball game on the GameBoy but don't remember the name of it.
I still play MVP 2005 on my XBOX on occasion and World Class Baseball on my Turbo Express. Both still fun to pick up and play.Comment

Re: Other retro baseball games did you play?
NES -
-Baseball (Nintendo)
-Bases Loaded
-Baseball Stars
-MLB (Konami)
Baseball Stars was the best of the four but Bases Loaded was right behind it. MLB from Konami sucked and Baseball from Nintendo was actually pretty decent.
SNES / Genesis -
-MLBPA Baseball (EA)
-Super Baseball Simulator 1.000
-Tecmo Super Baseball
-World Series Baseball featuring Sports Talk
Tecmo was by far my favorite MLB baseball game back in the day. Pure simulation and a lot of fun yet challenging. 1000 was awesome because of all the weird stuff you can do which included exploding baseballs that would explode when the defender would try catching the ball. The EA game was okay but that password crap was horrible. I hated that. Would Series Baseball was also very good and introduced (limited) commentary into baseball games like Sega did with their NFL games.
PlayStation -
-Triple Play 97
-Triple Play 98
The above two were literally the last two baseball games that I have ever played. 98 wasn't bad but I loved 97 more. Just overall, a lot more fun for me.Comment

I posted last year but am sticking with my guns. Ken Griffey Baseball for Snes. I was able to find a rom that has the 2017 rosters. I also downloaded the editing tool so I could get Panda off my Red Sox....Price is next if he's not careful.
Still my favorite game.Comment

Re: Other retro baseball games did you play?
I went on a retro kick not too long ago, snatching up as many NES baseball carts as I could find. Sure I can always play these games on emulators (I have an OUYA for this very purpose), but I do enjoy collecting the originals if the price is right.
It's amazing how well the gameplay holds up with the NES-era baseball games. Back then it seemed as though other sports games were still finding their footing (with the exception of Blades of Steel and Tecmo Bowl), but the majority of baseball games are still a blast to play to this day. Nintendo, SNK, Namco, Culture Brain, Jaleco, Tecmo, they all produced great NES baseball games. Just like baseball was tailor-made for radio, it also seems like the sport was tailor-made for early-era video gaming.www.heyimbill.com | sports poster art and other cool stuffComment
