    Observations

I've played around with this title for around 70 games or so and now have decided to take the plunge of starting a franchise with the New York Mets. I have made player edits suggested by Knight and Jim416 and i play on the Veteran level, 2d cursor, classic pitch speed, all aids on, strike zone on, and the 2004 camera. Here are some things that i have observed:

    * Pitching: For the most part it's cool (considering i use random gen. count) that when my pitcher who's losing control will get wild and walk batters. I throw to mostly the cold zones of the opposing hitters and sometimes it's like they know what's coming and will smoke it for an extra base hit. It never really dawned on me that i should mix it up by sometimes throwing in the red zones every now and then to keep them off balance.

    * Hitting: Using 2d has been good for me because i can usually get about 8-10 hits a game and i get homeruns from just about everyone from the big guns to the punch and judy hitters. It takes to know your hot/ cold zones.

    * Fielding: Can't really comment about the fieldercam since i play with auto field. However, i choose to manually position my fielders instead of having the cpu do it for me because they have my outfielders playing in.

Like i had said before, i played around 70 games in an aborted expansion franchise and i was getting my *** handed to me. But then again all the players i drafted were rated C+ or lower, it's no wonder i got killed.

Alright.....Let us know how the Franchise goes. Trades, injuries FA signings and such. I always like to hear about other players seasons.

        Re: Observations

Good luck. I played a 162 game season with settings similiar to yours. The generated pitch count is one of the best features ever in a baseball game, and I love that ASB atmosphere.

I did have some frustrations with the 2-D cursor. Virtually no hits down the line. Too many infield hits and not enough hits to the outfield (which somewhat evened out). And sometimes it just felt like no matter how I made contact, the result was dependent upon the whims of the CPU. It did keep the statistics fairly realistic, but somewhat frustrating that it didn't really matter how I played.

            Cardot,
i know where you are coming from in regards to the 2d cursor. But after reading some posts on hitting with the 2d cursor, i am proud to say that i have been putting up some pretty good numbers in spring training ( i can only play so much as my girlfriend is a straight ***** of me rockin the ps2). i run with the new york mets and piazza has 8hrs in 7 games, floyd 5 in 7 games, and getting shots out with matsui, reyes, garcia, wilson, and wiggington.
it's a matter of timing and placing the cursor in the hot zone. i've been getting great results so far and if this high rate of success continues, i'm going to bump it up to the all star level.
all in all, i am absolutely loving this game to death and will continue to play it even when they release mvp 2005 (unless they fix up all the glitches in that game).

                rj9902,

Have you been able to hit anything down the line? The only way I ever did was by putting the cursor way over on one side, and moving it all the way across the strike zone to hit the ball. But that wasn't exactly the most efficient way to make contact.

Enjoy the season. With a NY team, you should play a couple of your home games in the Polo Grounds and Ebbetts field.

I have not been able to do that yet but i am still getting a pretty good variety of hits. Like i said before, i am really enjoying the hell out of this game and it's just a cryin' shame that Acclaim shut down and thus no more ASB.
