I checked out a bunch of gloves and found one that I liked, a black/dark brown Mizuno for only $24.99, which was a steal since everything else was like $49.99 or higher. Now, I am standing in line and I started messing with the glove and the tag fell off. I picked it up and put it in the glove. I then looked at the tag and realized something. I had a 13 inch glove but the tag was for an 11 inch glove. I was going to go find another one but saw that the line was really long and I had to get home anyhow. So I went with it. Sure enough, the girl behind the counter couldn't tell and I got a sweet glove for essentially marked down price.
Thats awesome, I'm getting a new glove for my birthday from my parents...at least i think thats what i'm getting. I think im gonna go today to look around charlotte for a bat.

        Nick....

You seem like a huge softball fan, so you should go over to the boards at www.swingmechanics.com which is a website/message board that was created by this guy in Georgia who is 5'9", 175 - and can absolutely crush the ball (he can hit the ball 400 feet - consistently - I saw him hit in person, it was phenomenal). His video is outstanding - and he (his name is Todd) is on the board all the time answering questions. It's very impressive.

There are guys on there all of the time talking about buying and trading bats. Also - you want to watch with doublewall bats, because the type of ball that your league uses has a great impact on whether a doublewall is effective or uneffective.

I got the first video from that site...definitely helped my swing...just a lil more tweaking and i'll be at least giving the fence dents...if not the ground or the creek beyond the fence.

Thanks for the link to that site... seems pretty interesting! It's been a hard adjustment for me from baseball to softball over the years, so i'm always open to some advice on my swing. I am a leadoff hitter too, so the whole "loading up" concept before the pitch has always been lost on me. I think i'm going to focus on it some more this year, because i'm sick of being such a singles hitter ALL the time.

The grip that guy uses is crazy looking... i've never seen anyone hold a bat that way!
                    LET'S GO FLYERS, YANKEES, DOLPHINS!!!

Yea, and I find it to be a bit uncomfortable. I tapered my bats and drop the bottom 2 fingers off the bottom, and added a little padding to my left hand since its the one the bat sits in....feels so comfortable and seems to help a good bit. I went out hitting again saturday, had some even better hits and i was pretty sore from being up all night playing games with kids at a church lock-in...but I had improved even over just the course of 1 week, one thing that helped was that I watched that DVD again Friday so it was fresh in my mind.

Re: Where to buy slowpitch softball bats?

It really is a great site. Todd's videos and screens just make a lot of sense and based on science and logic. And - the guys on the message board are really nice and helpful.

They had a bp session just outside of Atlanta the weekend before Christmas. I actually flew down from Pittsburgh, because I want to become a better hitter, and I am committed to learning Todd's swing, because he is so fundamentally sound.

They were really great hosts, and several of the guys from the message board were there to hit in the afternoon on Friday and all day on Saturday. Todd, Coop and JasonB are all from around the area. Bruce and Don (JAH) were among the guys who drove in from near-by. I was the worst player there - by a mile - and they were all incrediblely nice to me, because I am trying to learn and work at getting better.

We hit on a baseball field that was 350' to straightaway center, and 325 down the lines. Coop was blasting the ball all weekend - consistently hitting 350+ homers. He is probably 5'10" - maybe 200 pounds. Bruce was amazing. He is in his late-50s (he might even be 60), is probably 5'9" - maybe 150 pounds. He was crushing the ball - we're talking screaming line drives all over the field, with lots of 340 foot homers to dead right field.

Todd was phenomenal. We hit for around 8 hours on Saturday. No joke - the guy hit 50-75 balls way out of the park to straightaway right-center and left-center. Many of them were going 400+ feet - which is just ridiculous to watch. There were a couple of times when I just stood in awe watching the ball land 20 or 30 feet past the fence.

Honestly - I've been playing ball for awhile, and I've seen some big power hitters, but - I've never seen anything like this....
