You’re right to an extent but MVP was easily one of their best games. Super polished and extremely deep.

      Re: Potential MVP return?

I feel like SGO was grasping for content in the video. Just because a produce has baseball in his bio doesn't mean they're working on a game to release. For example, EA no longer makes a basketball game for the console or PC; however, they have a whole department working on AI generated animations using basketball movements. A friend of mine is one of those researchers, loves basketball, but admitted to me all his work is dealing with animation patterns. They just choose basketball to show off their research because it was one of the sports (along with UFC) that allowed for multiple types of movements (offensive, defensive, etc.).

The group presented this at SIGGRAPH 2020:
      <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Rzj3k3yerDk" title="YouTube video player" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0"></iframe>

      And this at SIGGRAPH 2021:
      <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SkJNxLYNwN0" title="YouTube video player" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0"></iframe>

So my point is, SGO's sources could've been referring to a group that was doing research on some game mechanic and using baseball as a good representation. For example, baseball would be an ideal title to work on for physics and tracking.

I hope I'm wrong, because I'd love another simulation baseball game like the next person, but hopes aren't high.

Sooooo.... I wonder if this is still happening?
I couldn't find any new info, but I'm hoping we might see something in the new year.

I'll support whomever gives us the best retro-playability.

MLBtS is not actively pursuing that. If EA does, I'll buy, regardless of how much I despise them.

Baseball is the one sport I felt EA did well.
I've given up on them for everything else.
So I'd welcome back the MVP series with open arms.

MLBtS is a great game between the lines. Its just not the experience I am looking for. And by ditching year-to-year saves, they got even farther away from that.

I'd prefer not to give EA another dime. But if they incorporate baseballs rich history and give me better retro roster creation possibilities, I'd be all in.

MLB the show top 10 in sales so far. I don’t understand how EA still doesn’t bring back MVP baseball.

These are just US numbers. EA is thinking globally and I'd be willing to guess MLBTS drops out of the top 20 when looking at worldwide sales figures. For example, FIFA 23 will trounce MLBTS when accounting for global sales and EAFC will pass it as well by next month. EAFC24 was released a day before this chart was and still managed to get to #14 in America.

With all that EA has on its plate, I'd rather have them focus on getting CFB up and running on its own two legs the next three years before they bite off any more to chew. Then, maybe by 2027 we could have a MVP reboot.

First time seeing this thread, but 2024 is indeed when I figured they'd be returning. Seems like there had been hints left and right the past few years, and with acquiring Metalhead and releasing a Super Mega Baseball game last year, the timing for this year and this generation just seemed right, especially after SDS expanded their baseball game to Xbox as well.

I think it's different developers, though. EA Canada did the MVP series. I don't believe they made the NCAA Football games. Wasn't that EA Tiburon, much like Madden?

Plus, EA doesn't exactly publish NBA games anymore.

Correct. NCAA March Madness was made in Vancouver, NCAA Football in Orlando.
