    MLB TV or Extra Innings

I really want to follow baeball again this year. Jobs, school, etc..., the last 2 years have held me back.

I am either getting MLB TV through mlb.com or Extra Innings through my digital cable provider.

I am leaning towards MLB.TV because it is cheaper and I can watch games on my laptop. I write a ton and will travel this summer, so it seems to be the logical choice. But, it is on a small screen. I can hook up my laptop to the TV, but the image is pixelated.

But, I am still tempted by Extra Innings. Watching games on the TV is a more plesant experience, but I will not always be at home. Plus, I do not have Digital Cable in any other room except the Living Room, so I am pretty much stuck watching it there.

That is why I am looking for opinins for the services. Pros, Cons? I have hagih speed cable broadband so streaming isn't an issue.

Also, do you know if these services show Spring Training games?

    Thanks for any info

I've had extra innings for 3 years, and I've never seen a spring training game on there.

Re: MLB TV or Extra Innings

I had extra innings the last two years and cancelled it for this year. I'm a Phillies fan living in Chicago, and I mainly got it to watch Phillies games. Unfortunately only about 1/2 of the Phillies schedule (if that) is part of the package. The other problem is that I got too busy to watch some of the games that were on anyway. There is so much baseball on TV that I just decided to cancel the whole thing. For anyone that has the time and is interested in teams who have all their games on the package it is a great thing, but I just felt I was wasting too much money.

I'm a Sox fan and have got Extra Innings for the last few years. They show EVERY SINGLE Sox game, so I have no complaints. Also, even a broadband stream on a pc (750k I'm assuming) isn't going to look fantastic. It will be a little pixellated, and probably will stutter from time to time. I have a 51" HDTV, and a 17" monitor, so it's an easy decision for me.

Re: MLB TV or Extra Innings

mlb tv does show spring training games..........
for me, i've had both in the past, but i prefer the mlbtv now on the internet. It's more convenient because at your disposal you have every single game saved into the system. That means you can stream a game in the middle of july from earlier in the year. Now, most aren't going to do that, but......... i'm sure there would be times you want to start watching a previously viewed game when YOU want, not at the tv's schedule. Also, the ability to fast fwd/rwd games is good and doesn't cost any extra (like tivo does)..
plus included in the mlbtv is the greatest games package where you can watch all the cooperstown games they have on file as well.

of course, nothing compares to being able to watch the mlb extra innings on a normal tv instead of on a pc, but if that really isn't something you care too much about, then the pc option is much better.

Yeah Keirik I really love MLBtv. It's pretty darn good. I've spent all winter watching the classic games. Right now i'm up to 1991 WS Game 6. Since the only ST game today is Boston and Philly i'll probably be watching it tonight.

The quality of the live stream is pretty good. It's not crystal clear but you can tell what's going on. The only problem with it is the stuttering at times tho that could just be my connection. Overall I think this is a great feature for fans of teams that aren't in their region.

for wwhat it's worth, recently, on mlb.com you can go to the video and "IBN" to watch free classic games from last year and the past. They change the games each day and show you basically exactly the quality you'd see if you ordered the foll subscription (although the subscription of games is better than the ibn quality)
