Who owns the MLB license for videogames?

I must have been under a rock with March Madness, The NFL draft and all the boxing I've been watching lately. Did one game producer get exclusive rights? and its not EA?

It's Take Two ... 2K Games .... what used to be ESPNVideogames, and was SegaSports before that.

How much did they pay, how long is it for, and do you have a link? Thanks.

The major thing in the deal is that first-party games are exempted. So Microsoft and Sony (989) can still make MLB games ... it's just EA, Midway, etc. that are affected.

Publisher will have exclusive third-party pro baseball rights beginning in 2006; deal still allows for first-party MLB games.

This is funny, Sony is going to buy out EA and slap Take Two in the face. I don't understand how this contract actually works, there is something fishy. EA is going to scream collusion, I can guarantee it. How can you buy exclusive 3rd party rights? It would seem like you would own the licesnse or not. Too many loopholes available. I wouldn't count on take 2 cornering the market.
