    Something keeps calling me back...

Frustrated, I ditched this game back in late March or so and picked up MVP. I only have an Xbox so that was the alternative. Well, enjoyed MVP a great deal, especially the animations, but something is missing I can't put my finger on. Nothing wrong with MVP, just something missing.

So I went to an Angels game the other night and suddenly began thinking about console baseball when it hit me - atmosphere. I was suddenly thinking about 2k's atmosphere.

I think I'm going to pick up 2k5 and just bite my nails on all its flaws. I dunno. I feel like I'm missing something by not playing it, even though I very vividly remember being pretty disgusted when I got rid of it the first time. For some reason, something just keeps calling me back.

ASB was always like that for me. Some very frustrating gameplay aspects, but the atmosphere and stadiums kept bringing me back.

I am also in the same boat with MVP. The problem for me is that you can't play a shorter season. I just don't have the time to play 162 games and I don't like simming games. I have always liked the 40 game schedule in the 2K Series.

I was going to start my own thread along these lines. I played MVP to death last year and thought it was perhaps the best sports game I'd ever played. I never play baseball games in the offseason, and I did with MVP.

Maybe I just burned myself out on it, but I find this year that when I play console baseball this year I go pull out 2k5 instead. The BigJoe sliders make this an excellent and fun game. There's nothing wrong with MVP, I just find that I haven't pulled it out in nearly two months and sometimes I wonder why.

I've heard that a lot. Anyone try turning the announcing off and playing it like your listening from the stands or something? Might work...?

The mvp presentation and atmosphere is just terrible. The games are silent other than the horrible commentary.

For anyone remotely curious, I got it back for a week but that's about it.
The presentation didn't overshadow the gampelay for me this time around the way it did back in February.
I took it back and hopefully Take 2 does an about face next year. If they do Nothing new for the presentation and focus only on gamepaly I wouldn't be mad at 'em.

Thing is, they have to do something. They need to get rid of the ESPN license in their game, so stuff in that department, unfortunately, is time taken away from other things (at least I think).

However, nothing has detracted me from this game yet. I'm already 151 games into my second year, PLAYING EVERY GAME. No signs of me slowing down yet.

Yeah, I know what you mean Blzr. I'm just saying that the presentation was so far ahead of anything else...anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying the game. Hoefully next year they will use Fox or something like that since they are losing the ESPN tag.

Hey Blzer... After playing almost 2 complete seasons, how did the individual stats look throughout the league? I have no way of accessing your slider sets, what are they? How did they work out for you? Did you play with any "House Rules" to help create a better sim?

                    Thanks...

Well, I'm not at my machine this very moment, and I don't really make sure that pitching stats are that great (well, strikeouts per year, etc.), but I make sure that I have realistic scores in games, and realistic offensive seasons.

Right now, aside from Blalock having a stellar year, I'd say that everybody is doing very well. Brian Buchanan for TB is in second place with 39 home runs so far, but that's also because for some reason he developed to have a 96 home run rating (nothing I can really do about it).

I may post sliders here sometime. I don't really have any house rules except not hitting for power; however, there is a time when I have my own fun (like, in the Home Run Inning, I always hit with power). Nothing else, really.

The reason I can get so many games in is there are times where I can play about 12 games in one day, because I turn on Hurry-Up Baseball. Yes, it does consume 5 hours of the day, but if I wake up at 7:00, I can play up until 12:00 and still have the rest of the day ahead of me. I can even play later that night or something, too.

Yeah, I use K-Zone pitching. I didn't update many rosters, except moving Sosa and Ordoñez at the beginning of the year. Again, I may post sliders, but I really think they are just good for me, and nothing else.
