MLB 2k5 WSE makes me Afraid for MLB 2k6

I don't know about you all, but the fact that they have relied on marketing schemes and tactics to sell the same game over again really makes me skeptical of what is coming to us next Spring.

Like many of you, I tried and tried to make 2k5 work. And like many of you, I gave up on "the project" and went to another game. And liek most of you, I was excited to hear about a World Series Edition, hoping it would solve some of the past problems.

And like "all" of you, I too am disappointed with TT's lack of desire to fix the many bugs and glitches that plagued the game, a game built on the World Series 2k3 engine.

So I wonder, with 2k6 being also built from that engine (if it is just an attempt to improve on 2k5), and with 2k5 having sooo many issues, and with WSE fixing soooo few, few, if any, of those issues...should we really be looking forward to MLB 2k6?

I for one, am very afraid.

Totally not counting on this game for next year! As far as I am concerned my options are Mlb whatever year they call it and the NCAA from EA. If by chance 2k6 is a winner then its a bonus!

Yes, I a, very worried too.Without MVP Baseball we have no choice, unless MLB 2k7 is good.

Ink, I agree with you 100%. I'm scared with what 2Ksports may have in store for us next year. This is stuff that EA would pull.

I decided against getting the WSE of 2K5, but I did the original 2K5 before the season started. I was very underwhelmed with the offering. I was one of the few that throughly enjoyed ESPN Major League Baseball 2004.

I played MVP this past year and while I enjoyed it, I still didn't like some aspects that were large parts of the game (mainly the batting interface and the up for flyball, down for groundball).

I REALLY hope 2K steps up their game for 2K7 because it's the only baseball game Xbox'ers have next year.

It's not the only game next year. Only EA can't make an offical baseball game.

I haven't played either game but my guess would be that WSE is basically a patch from MLB 2k6. How much time do you honesty think they had to make it?? Not nearly the amount of time that it takes for them to make the full 2k5. I am hoping that mlb 2k6 will be great but I never liked the engine from take two in any sports games. EA sports isn't perfect but in my opinion it plays more realistic. Hopefully take two can pull it off and make a great game. I am getting NCAA 06 because I already know EA sports has been good. Take two's 2k6 is going to have to be rented before I consider buying it though. I am hoping that they do something good with the exclusive rights and all and maybe hire an ex-player to kind of help them with ideas to make the game more realistic, etc.

Only first party developers can make a game so that's Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. There will be a Sony game, but that doesn't help out Xbox users.

Microsoft could make a game, but we haven't heard anything yet so I'm not too optimistic. I'd LOVE for them to bring back High Heat with updated graphics and franchise, but I doubt it.

I doubt a baseball game would be a system seller...But how killer would it be if Microsoft had bought the MVP engine and released it with some upgrades and just slapped a new name on it. I'm sure some people would think about that when it came down to whether or not to purchase a 360.

All of that thought is down the drain though since the NCAA game will be coming out by EA. But thats the dream situation, for me at least.

2K’s marketing “plan” is admittedly sad, even pathetic. They appear to be feebly following after another sports game company’s modus operandi for whatever very strange reason… $$$ I suppose.

Regardless, I haven’t stopped playing 2K5 since I bought it last spring. It takes up probably 95% of my gaming time. Just today I started a new 162 game franchise after drafting for all 30 teams (kept the CPU Yankees intact though, and just mixed up the rest of the teams).

Call me weird, call me goofy, call me scary ‘cause it’s Halloween next week… but I love this game. Yes, it requires days and days of editing before it plays properly, but let me tell you: I had MLB TV this year and watched maybe 150 games, including pretty well every team in the league. Honestly, there wasn’t one real life broadcast team that made the real games “feel” like baseball as much as 2K, John and Joe made this game feel like you’re actually playing and listening to a real baseball game… with the exception of real-life John and Joe on ESPN Sunday Night baseball of course

All I know is that when the first videos come around January or so I BETTER NOT see that same cot damned swing animation. I don't want to see anymore batters' shoulders squared to the dugout on their swing-follow through.

That'll be a tell-tale sign to see if they actually put some work into the game.

It's not that World Series Edition that makes me scared of next year's game. It's also not the potential bugs or things that they don't fix that scares me about next year's game. It's just the fact that Kush is making the game... I don't believe that they can make what makes VC's and Blue Shift's games so solid. It's very hard to explain because the subject is so broad, but I hope that people can understand what I mean.
