Re: Major League Baseball 2K6 Interview Questions

    Okay... here we go:

Player Momentum - I understand that we have a new movement system in the works, that incorporates player collisions. However, that's all that we know about. I have a feeling that momentum might also be another part of this new movement system, too (looking at one of the screenshots). Can you explain how it's incorporated? What I mean is... is there now a "sprint" (I can't say turbo) button, where if you hold onto it, making turns would be harder? Will changing directions be tough? Will there be attributes for like, Acceleration or Initial Jump? To make complete 180* turnarounds, will there be foot-planting? Will throwing while running forward give a stronger throw than running back? How much "momentum" are you guys considering implementing, and how will it differentiate for different players?

    Thanks.

Re: Major League Baseball 2K6 Interview Questions

      * The announcing team of John and Joe was the best in any video sports game, ever. Will they be back?

      * The Confidence feature is a brilliant addition to the series, yet it wasn’t implemented very well. Players lose confidence over a much longer stretch of time – several games or more – and not after one or two at-bats as was the case in last year’s game. Is the Confidence feature still a part of the game and, if so, has it been refined and improved upon at all?

      * There were several major bugs and glitches in last year’s game, including: the CPU pitcher always walking the #8 batter, regardless of the situation; no CPU sacrifice bunting when using any pitching interface other than K-zone; player movement resulting in muddled lineups with two SS’s and/or two DH’s, or bench players missing from the lineup altogether. Have these problems been identified and fixed?

      * It happens several times a game that the ball is hit sharply towards one of my infielders, yet instead of being given control of my nearest fielder, the game programming takes over and causes my fielder to automatically move towards the ball and snag the line drive in “web gem” fashion. On more than one occasion I’ve played an inning where I’ve made three infield put-outs, without ever having touched the gamepad controls – the “web gem” auto-programming did it all for me. Has this particular aspect of the game’s programming been refined or perhaps changed and, if not, what is the reasoning behind programming the game in this manner?

This year they said they are focusing on the catcher. What will the interaction be when pitching in the game. Will it be done by pitch type and location? Can you shake off a call? Does it have a reward/punishment if you blow off the call. I guess a thorough explanation of this feature.

I guess I assume John and Joe are free to accept work independently, and providing of course that words and terms such as “ESPN” or K-zone” and what have you are never uttered and muttered. If not, then what kind of a freaky world are we living in, I say?

Do you plan on having playable minor leagues in 2K6 similar to what MVP had in their game? If not this year, would this be a feature that might be implmented in future versions? It would be great to be able to play with your AAA, AA and A farm teams and see how your talent devlops. Thanks for your time.

Are we going to have more camera options? more precisely, a broadcast cam, i.e. MVP 05.

Have the bats been scaled to the appropriate dimentions? It's been 4 years with the wiffle bats.

-Will there be day progression in mlb2k6?

-Will the user be allowed to choose the cpu's uniform in season, dynasty or whatever mode?

-Will I be able to reloacte the Nationals in Montreal?

-Will real managers be included in this years game? If so, will i be able to fire Frank Robinson and lure Felipe away from S.F.?

Will weather/conditions of field/sky be a part of this game? Will it affect playing?

Will the game be random, meaning random happenings occur? (ie- balls fly into seats, ball jumps off of mound into center field)

Will franchise mode resemble exactly what the MLB has- i.e- arbitration, non-tendered players, 40-man rosters, waivers, rule 5 draft, MLB first-year player draft in June, recognition of important stats, HOF, homerun derby, futures game, etc.

If you do have PLAYABLE Minor Leagues, will the REAL stadiums be there?

The AI pitcher seldom through balls. Pitch counts for the AI would general run 90% thrown strikes. Will the AI pitcher be programmed to throw balls this year. This is sorely needed.

Agreed. It might be a breach of contract for them to go outside of ESPN. At least that's the way it often works with media types. I have a feeling we won't see them in this game.

Re: Major League Baseball 2K6 Interview Questions

This, I believe, is the most important question:

There has not been a baseball game since High Heat to accurately portray the battle between a pitcher and a batter. In last year's game, it was far too easy to throw a strike every time, even with the interface speed set to 100 on K-Zone pitching. Likewise, the cpu would throw mostly all strikes, and as a result it was possible to throw 60 pitch complete games. Hitting became guessing right and swinging at almost every pitch, and pitching became the art of moving the cursor into the batter's cold-zone and watching as the perfect pitch was fired to the plate.

For next year's game, what has been done to ensure that both the human and AI controlled pitchers will have pitch counts? Will we finally see 3-2 counts and walks? Will there finally be at-bats where the batter fouls off 6 pitches? Will humans finally have to monitor their pitchers based not solely on innings pitched but also on number of pitches thrown? This pitcher batter confrontation is the heart and soul of baseball. It is the game at its core. Whether or not 2K Games finally got this right may be the deciding factor as to whether or not I purchase this game.

I love the way you guys handle injuries in the basketball games. Will we have a similar model in the baseball game?

Keeping in line with the basketball games(the A.I) is heavenly. Will there be tendencies?

Will 2K announce a running home-run tally threw out the season? "Thats his 48th Home-Run this season" I would love it!

Is 2K going to offer Legends for 2K6 on Xbox 360 like they did with 2K5 MLB WSE? I hope so!

I liked timed hitting is there any plans to bring it back as an option?

Last year 2K offered two lists of names first and last for Edit and Create-A-Player but didn't announce many of them, are they going to offer these first and last names and announce both names first and last?

If so will they add names every year, or is there any plans to incorporate something like "Text To Speech Synthesizers" where we could type in any name and that name would be announced?

I almost forgot this one, Bat speed, is 2K going to offer a quicker bat so we can wait on a pitch?

I just saw 2Ks latest pictures, there beautiful better than I dreamed they would be! 2K has the right people contributing to this game!
