Its quite simple really. 2K's basketball is made by Visual Concepts. 2K's baseball is made by Kush Games. VC always puts out sim-like quality games with extraordinary graphics. Kush puts out arcade-like games with slightly less impressive graphics. Hopefull VC will expand and take over all the 2K sports games.

          Let me rephrase this statement:

Kush Games was started as a developer of non-violent games with a talented work force and currently employs some of the best and brightest industry veterans. At Kush their goal is simple: Make AAA games that are the best in the genre and have fun doing it. Owned by Visual Concepts and Take 2 Interactive, Kush Games is a successful, stable company that produces high-quality, kick-*** titles each year (that suits all ages and all types of gamers).

"Kush" means "happy" and in designing games they are committed to employee satisfaction. They produce great games because we are passionate about sports and that passion is reflected in the detail and quality of our games. Their goal at Kush Games is to consistently produce the highest quality games with a positive outlook. They will not develop any products that incorporate guns or violence nor reflect attitudes of racism or sexism.

In short, they aren't quite going for hardcore. They go for the videogame aspects... something that would attract a casual gamer (as you see Slamzone, turbo, and a lot of flashy stuff); they are proficient at doing so. However, this is not what most of us at OS prefer, and we prefer that of the style Visual Concepts goes for, which is very sim-heavy.

So, I would not mind if Kush was fired and VC was hired to do this game. But, I cannot blame Kush for their 9-month effort at stripping Blue Shift's game apart and reworking it to familiar code. They really revamped the presentation, and I applaud them for that. I wouldn't agree that it would be very fair to give them the boot after one year... give them a chance to redeem themselves this year. If not, then I'd say that we have a problem.
