Who do you think the announcers will be?

I'm guessing there are three or four possible selections for this. I was wondering what you think, or what you want.


1) Jon Miller/Joe Morgan
2) Joe Buck/Tim McCarver
3) Terry McGovern/Jay Styne (Dan Stevens/Peter O' Keefe)
4) Duane Kuiper/Mike Krukow



If they were going with the Fox license, I would have preferred Buck and McCarver for the authenticity aspect... as long as they did very well with the presentation in general. However, they slapped 2K on it everywhere, and I want to see Terry McGovern and Jay Styne do it. They have terrific chemistry, and they really bring some entertainment to the game.

I figured out [after seeing what EA did to destroy their appearance on how good they really are] that Kruk and Kuip might not be a good idea. They are terrific T.V. commentators for the San Francisco Giants; much like McGovern and Styne in video games. But, not here.

And, of course, Miller and Morgan. They are great... but like Buck and McCarver, I appreciate them more as announcers on the game with ESPN around them.

-I do not think it will be Jon and Joe because of the ESPN agreement with EA.

-I would hope its not Joe and Tim. Not my favorite team. I would not mind Steve Lyons who used to do the commentary for ASB.

-I do not know your third option.

-We all have a bad taste in our mouth about Kuiper and Krukow from Mvp. A lot has to do with the script they are given so they could be good.

-I also could see them using no names too. Was that the case with 2k nfl series?

I'm sorry, my fault. Those are the voice actors that played Dan Stevens and Peter O' Keefe in the NFL 2K series.

AAH! That answers my last question. I thought those guys were voice actors. They were very good commentators, I would not mind them at all. The only thing that was a little beat was some of the things were repeated too often. Then again that has to do with script writing.

Actually, in NFL 2K3, it was very rare to hear them repeat themselves. They also seemed to be a little more coordinated and in sync in that game as opposed to ESPN NFL Football or ESPN NFL 2K5. I think it had a lot to do with ESPN Videogames adding Chris Berman, Suzy Kolber, Trey Wingo, and Mel Kiper Jr. Also, remember that ESPN NFL Football was when Jay Styne began doing player bios, team stats, etc. So, I assume that a lot of memory was taken from that.

Hopefully (and this is wishful thinking) they would take full advantage of the memory they would have for the Xbox 360 and just have multiple (maybe 30) different lines that they could say for the same occurence... like if it were to happen twice. Now that's for everything. Like, even if they said "Strike one" a little differently, or if there was a Splash Hit in McCovey Cove or something.

If the 2K Sports team lets them improvise, I think it would work very well!

This is what I am expecting with the 360. We should not have the same level of commentary as we do now on the current systems. Commentary should be at the same level as the live broadcasts we see on TV, filled with variability, emotion, interaction, in game analysis and discussion.

I can't beleive that I'm saying this, but if it's Joe Buck and Tim McCarver, I will not buy the game. I know it's outrageous, but that's how much I can't stand Joe Buck...you thought I was going to say McCarver didn't you. I don't like him either.

Dan Shchulman of ESPN would be a nice choice for play-by-play. I wouldn't mind seeing Tony Gwynn, Rick Sutcliffe, or one of several other guys get the commentary spot. Bob Costas would not be a bad choice for the pbp either.

I am gonna say Dan and Peter. But it would be cool if they had 2 additional announcers to do games that would be considered nationally televised. So Dan & Peter would be regulars and the other 2 would announce maybe a few times a month.

The best color commentator in the business is Steve Stone, but I don't know if 2K could get him (or how well his style would translate to video games).

Yeah Steve Stone is the best. What I would pay to hear, "for all you youngsers out there..." just one more time.

But I like Len and Bob too. Bob started off slow and didnt say too much but as the season went on he spoke more.

Yea, Lyons and Brenneman were just great in ASB! That would really be something to look forward to.

I'd like to hear Peter and Dan, seeing that they are really the figurehead voices for 2K Sports.

Plus they're good and entertaining.
