    BLT #1 - Jan 17th - Animations

    http://www.2ksports.com/games/mlb2k6/

One of the most exciting parts of televised baseball are the highlight reels that come after a big play. The moon shot over the bleachers, the diving catch, the relay from the cutoff man and even simply catching a fly ball all require athletic baseball skill and at the big league level, MLB athletes make all these plays look easy and graceful. The Pure Motion Physics in Major League Baseball 2K6 drives all the new animations in the game; not only will gamers see much more variety in running, throwing, fielding, and tagging animations, but new player-to-player collision in the outfield and infield, adding astounding detail to virtual diamond.

Coming early spring 2006, get ready as a brand-spankin’ new baseball title is on its way - Major League Baseball 2K6. To welcome in this big league baseball video game, every week new information, screenshots, and movies will be released.

The movements still look kinda mechanical to me. I do like the new animations tho. It seems this game is going in the right direction.

I am still put off by the throwing and swinging animations. The throws don't look like they have any "oomph" behind them...mostly just arm throws. The swings we all know about...I haven't seen any appreciable improvement from last year to this year in that.

Don't get me wrong, the transition animations and some of the on field stuff like collisions and "play prep" stuff like catcher setup, pitcher getting sign, etc...look neat. But the guts of it still looks off to me...

It is looking better, but one thing that is interesting is that the gloves look much better in the screenshots and in the video they look like last year. I liked the pop up in front of the plate...that's something you didn't see last year. Now if they can only get the C to throw his mask off and turn his back to the field when he fields it we will be getting somewhere.

Looks like a different game to me. All-Star Baseballish. That's a good thing.
Pitches and throws look kinda floaty. I hope that was slow mo.

True. There's not much 'weight' or 'muscle' behind a lot of the player movements.

Well, there's definitely a difference in the transition animations -- the movement is smoother. Obviously though they have to leave a lot of the animations in from last year. And I spotted a few new ones -- the 1B grabbing the throw, along with C shifting etc.

one video trailer, and it was boring at best. This was so underwhelming that VC could have released this video with the WS edition. If you gonna have this marketing plan, make it exciting, this BLT didn't make me want too purchase this game.

I don't quite see the transition animation improvement, but collision detection is a very good thing. Hopefully it works well.

I don't see anything new with how the runner pulls up after running by first, however.
