How the hell do you hit the ball

I just got this 2k5 baseball and its extremely hard to hit with this cursor thing..anyone got any tips?

You could use sliders and slow down the pitches until you get used to it. Or just use zone hitting (I think thats what its called). You may think well just hitting a button to hit the ball is too easy but if you have the right sliders you will do ok. I played a game last night and hit totals were 8 (me/TB) and 4(CPU/OAK). The one thing about 2k5 is that you have to adjust sliders to get a decent game of baseball. Luckily for you people have been adjusting sliders for the past year, should be refined by now.

Cursor is too damn hard. In my mind, because of the sensitivity of it, it is broken. It needs to be redone to what it used to be, as a free-roaming cursor.

Yeah, the cursor in 2K5 is awful compared to 2K3 and 2K4. Just go with the timed hitting.

it is free-roaming. You can tell by the slam zone guess... You can guess anywhere, not just in zones... So it's free-roaming. It was better in previous years though...

It's much harder to make contact with cursor hitting -- it's a programming thing. For cursor, the batting contact slider should be 65+. If using true aim, the batting contact slider can be lowered to 15, in order to get the same sort of contact results.

This talk of cursor hitting reminded of an experiment I did a week or so ago. I set up the options with cursor hitting and then in the pregame switched me to True Aim. What this did was have the CPU set up as cursor hitting. It may have been just one game, but I thought the CPU made much better contact and had a much greater variety of hits. I put the CPU skill at 20 and only had like 7 k's (usually with it that low I could probably get between 15-20) and I actually saw some pop ups that were skied up around the plate with the C making the play. It doesn't make sense to me why it would change anything, but I thought it was interesting.

Don't know what you mean by 'zone hitting'. Look, just do this: put the batting contact slider @ 100 and I guarantee you'll be hitting pitches in your sleep with cursor hitting. Now, once you've had enough of that, lower the slider by increments of 10 until you feel the batting difficulty is exactly right for you. Simple.

I'll also say this: you'll need to look at pitch speed as well, as someone else already pointed out. Plus, lowering the AI location and AI corner sliders makes it tons easier to determine balls from strikes, which could be adding to your headaches. But first start with the batting contact slider @ 100 as I already mentioned.
