I will be interested to see the impressions of this game...
I remember last year I was lurking on the 2K boards considering getting 2K5. I had only purchased my XBox the previous summer so I didn't have any knowledge of what games were available, and I was only looking at MLB 2K5 because I had picked up NFL 2K5 and been impressed with it. As I read the boards everyone was gushing at how good the game looked, how it was going to be awesome etc. The gushing was so great that I went driving around the day it was released to find a copy. Obviously, shortly after it was released people as a whole were dissapointed with it. Now, fast forward a year later. If anything, the game looks and moves better than last year. Whether it plays better is still to be seen. Reading the impressions/posts from these boards and the 2K boards, people are for the most part not happy/expecting much from this title. I won't be surprised if after the game comes out, people are pleasantly surprised because expectations are so low. I guess what I'm saying is that I saw such expectations/hype for last years game followed by dissapointment, and this year I am seeing such pessimism towards the game so it will be interesting to see what follows. On the other hand, with all the hype and expectations for MLB 06: The Show, I am really hoping it delivers and doesn't suffer from MLB 2K5 syndrome."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'm going to hold out on final verdict from everybody until April, but at first glance people are going to be complaining about what we already know (no Busch Stadium III, some crap animations, etc.), but you will hear many positives on presentation and overall improvement. I think that people will be very surprised with how the game feels and is played by playing it rather than watching videos, especially with the new hitting, pitching, and fielding.
Whether this game will be successful has yet to be seen, and will be tough to speculate on. I guess it really depends on the fanboys, the anti-fanboys, and the ones with an open mind coming into playing the game.
Overall, I will leave happy, and I know that already. I love MLB 2K5, and this game only got better. Will I buy it over MLB '06? I don't know. Will I buy either game? I don't know. I still have my 2K5 franchise that I can continue with... no problem with that.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -

I am one of those people keeping an open mind about this game. I am definitely getting the show, but I will follow the impressions thread after this game drops. The IE has me curious. I know it looked a little week in the POD from IGN. I am hoping it is a little more realistic than 3 straight changeups, ya know? Even if it is a little out of wack this year, I truly love this addition. SIM fans should love this as, if this is used properly, this is what baseball is...Stats, tendencies, scouting. I am curious to say the least.Formerly Favre4vrComment

I am holding out hope that this game is marginally better then last year's game. I realize that it won't be drastically different as this is the last current gen version of the game.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Me, I’ll be renting the game. I’ll probably end up buying it anyway, just because I can’t live knowing there’s a baseball game out there that isn’t on my game shelf. Regardless, even if the game’s a complete dud – which I can’t imagine – I’ll happily go back to playing 2K5 for another year.Comment
