Re: Troy Glaus "Play of the day" @ IGN

It's not about pessimism, optimism, it's about personal views on what the marketing of this game looks like. If you think it all looks rosey, fine. A bunch of people don't. There are a lot of initial negatives being posted and that's good. Why don't we all just post "wait and see"? That should make the devs who read these boards happy.

We're the ones who buy the games. We have the right to post pluses and minuses, the good with the bad. And we should be doing this.

There is no one here who knows what the final product will be, no one. You can speculate, be a fanboy, whatever, but none of us know. If it turns out great, we all win, but I'd rather look at these games with a critical eye just based on the history of baseball gaming. That's healthy. If the game turns out great, good.

Dude IGN made the vid and released it, no marketing there, just fools at IGN... Also I don't go around bashing 2k every chance I get like you nor do I praise it like some mindless fanboy. I'll rent the show and 2k on the same day and compare them... The only thing that bothered me in 2k5 was the diving fielders and hr robs... The fact that the IGN guys didn't know their controller was upside-down has no bearing on whether or not I think I'll like the game... The fact that the batter's shoelace is the wrong color means nothing to me, because I only care about gameplay and only was affected by those 2 gameplay flaws above. I don't care about IE, franchises or gimmicks. I play baseball games that simulate the rl sport, not ones that try to turn it into something else...

There was obviously nothing wrong with this game for you. Baa7 had to almost revamp the entire game to get it to play right. If you love the game, as is, fine, but people MUST be allowed to post the negatives without the "your just bashing the game" responses Pure and simple. If not we can turn the threads over to you and nothing will get done.

But, for you, nothing seems to need to get done. You seem to be offended that people are "bashing" the game. If someone wants to come here and post "2k5 sucks" and that's it, I can understand how you feel, but all the negatives that we are seeing (again, you appear to see none) should be posted. Maybe I'm naive, but I believe these boards get read by the devs and it SHOULD help them make a better game.

That is what I think most people have a gripe with, the rundown shown was not a rundown, it was like 2 little leaguers standing out there not knowing what to do.
Rundowns in 2K5 worked fine. What you're describing is probably what happens when the game is played on Rookie level, which it probably was. Believe me, the fielders in 2K5 don't let you slide into the base like that when playing on the higher difficulty levels. And I've played over 300 games of 2K5, so I know what I've seen.

You complained that a vid released by IGN somehow reflected on the marketing of 2k... Give me a break... You criticize crap... Valid complaints are fine, you'll notice I had 2 of them, but almost every single one of your posts is negative for no reason. You don't like the swing animations, fine, why repeat that almost every chance you get...

As I've said before it depends what kind of player you are. If your on online gamer or rl competitive gamer then what else besides those 2 flaws I mentioned would affect the game in a negative way. None, imo. I play the game to PLAY it, not to WATCH it.

Nope... you have to have somebody on the base, and then he'll catch it standing right there.

I've been playing a bit of MLB '06 lately, and one thing that I noticed that they did really well was those lead throws.
This, like I have said before, may be what keeps me from buying this game: not being able to throw to someone who is on the run.

You can't throw to a pitching while he's running to cover first, and in rundowns, you also have to wait until a teammate is standing stationary on a base.

Both the MLB and MVP series have had the ability to do these things for at least 2 years now, I think it's time for the 2K series to play a little catch-up, as this is an important part of the game.

What? you got the wrong guy. Show me where I've criticized the swing animations. I thought they mostly corrected the swing in last years edition. I had no problem with last years swing animations.

Erratic, enough, okay. You post what you feel, I'll give you a wide birth. Do the same for me.

I left the pitchers' arm strength and accuracy ratings intact. Other than that, I believed I edited every other rating for both pitchers and batters. Yeah, a bit of tweaking was needed, you might say

Those 2 are hilarious off-the-cuff. If you were to make an analogy of this board to a feature film, then their off topic "interactions" would be like the little cartoons that used to play before the movie actually started. Even if the movie sucked, you could always count on those little cartoons for a laugh.

                                BTW

does anyone recall an interview in one of the magazines (chien yu) when asked about 360 info he said it would be about presentation.
and the example he used was a fielder leaning over the rail to make a catch in the stands

if so.....the troy glaus play sure looks a lot like his example

my point?......i bet its more of a ported game than we think (except for gfx)
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.
