If they want to succeed, they need to put some money into commercial advertisements

After having watched about six consecutive hours of World Baseball Classic games, I have seen countless commercials advertising MLB ’06: The Show. By this, I mean you’re pretty much guaranteed one every three commercial breaks, and sometimes you’ll get two advertisements during the same commercial break. SCEA really knew where to put their money, because they know who’s watching, and who wants in on some baseball now (that’s why they’re watching the WBC, after all).

Now, as for 2K, they really need to stand out this time. I only recall seeing one instance of an MLB 2K5 commercial last year, and if I’m not mistaken it may have been online and not on T.V. There weren’t any commercials for MLB 2K5: WSE either. So, in one day I may have seen about 20 – 25 MLB ’06: The Show commercials, and it has taken over a year for me to see an MLB 2K commercial.

If they want to profit, they’re going to have to put quite some money into their commercials.

I’m going to wait for a couple of minutes to see if they advertise MLB ’06 during this break.

I saw commercials for MLB2k5 quite a few times a day on ESPN during the baseball season. You didn't see the Jeter van video?

2k sports advertising is Straight up garbage , even if they have a good commercial which they usually dont , they dont show it enough. The tracy morgan commercials were atleast funny but they either dont show it at the right times or dont show it that much

screw advertisement. they need to put that money into hiring more people to work on the development teams. Kush and VC are starting put out buggy crap. I'm sure they're like, to hell with QA, we'll patch it later.

Unfortunately everyone is still waiting for the later! It never seems to arrive.

This could be the year though. In addition to the part-time QA person they always hire the day before the game is to be released, they've added a monkey and two squirrels to the QA team.

There is always hope baa, at least they have something that is breathing looking at the game.

Also, if my third baseman all of a sudden starts looking for nuts in the grass or if my outfielder hangs on the outfield wall like a monkey, I will know they are doing their job!

Of course you've seen countless MLB "The Show" commercials during the WBC. MLB "The Show"/SCEA is a sponsor of the tournament that's why there name is all over the place. As for MLB 2K6, remember 2k's Marketing Dept. was hit by a fire in NYC not 2 long ago. Their office's were TOTALED. Maybe this is why we haven't seen any commercials from them

Ha-ha! Not his nuts hopefully... them line drives can be deadly.

Guess I shouldn't expect the worst. They did say they fixed a buch of bugs and glitches from last year. Most companies wouldn't even admit they had bugs and glitches in their previous year's game.

Hey baa7, You must have forgot about the PASSED BALL GLITCH? They had to admit they they had a fault in their game BECAUSE it happened every other inning! And there was no way to make it stop! They sent that game out to the public and admitted nothing about the problem? Then they came out with the World Series Edition, which I didn't buy. I took the original game back because of the passed ball. That "bug" made the game unplayable. I could care less about all the other gripes I had( along with everyone else that bought the game to). So we, will see. We will see?

That's a good point, and I know I was upset they never said a word about it and several other big glitches in 2K5. On the other hand, it did get fixed, AND they acknowledged in the developer interview here that other glitches people found were being fixed as well. Not excusing them: just acknowledging they did admit to some problems... and I think that's a positive step on their part.

Really, if you bought, say, a car that had a major defect, how many car companies would allow one of their reps to discuss it online and admit to the issue? My guess: none.

It did take a gamer to discover the slider fix, though. Not a word from 2K about the problem when it was evident there was one.
