    Question

2k has made a deal about there new "Collision animations".

Now i have a question, can you run into baserunners...because this would add a great dimention to the game. Just imagine someone diving for a ball and taking someone out. Then it would either be called catchers interference or runners interference.

im very excited about this game

    Re: Question

From what I've seen, the collision animations are nice, but in some cases misplaced. There was one video that had someone plowing into the catcher at home plate. Once he was called out, instead of making a real collision (like falling over and taking a while to get up) he just ran back to the dugout. I dunno. I'm not all that concerned with this. I'm more concerned about how the gameplay itself is going to turn out. IMHO the signs are good that this game will have some fairly decent gameplay. It also looks like they've borrowed heavily from ASB's franchise mode, which is good news. ASB's franchise mode as really deep, and as long as they can get even HALF of that right, I'm going to be happy with it.

Some of the animations are still raw and unmolded, but so long as it doesn't look like ET is trying to catch a ball and take a crap at the same time, I'm okay with it.

I'm also ALL OVER the fielding view, which just shows more of the playing field (something the Show is absolutely HORRIBLE with) so that you can better judge where things are and what you need to do to make things happen. The camera doesn't follow the ball wherever it goes (like in the show), it follows where it WILL go. That's what a baseball game should do.

I only hope the batting isn't too horrible, and if it is, that there are sliders to fix it.

I was pretty upset that they pushed the game back, but I've had time to get over it. I feel like the last thing I want to do is settle for a game that I know I don't want. Nothing against The Show, I just hate how they make the game look. It aggravates me, makes the game more complicated and annoying than it should be. It's hard to explain, but in the end I just want to wait and see what 2k6 can do, because the videos make the game look like it's just good enough to get me by until I can get a new PC and mess with MVP 05 on it.

I have historically been an auto field player. I'm not sure I get your statement. The fielding view (medium for me) gives a great view and makes it comfortable for me to play on manual or assisted fielding.

Well that's because it's hard to explain using just words, but I will try again (even though my freakin' browser has frozen twice at this point trying to reply to this; There's something about this freakin' page, the reply page, that firefox doesn't like)

We're talkin a double hit to the outfield:

Someone hits the ball in 2k6. You get a nice large view of the field, the stadium, the fans, everything. The infield stays in view for a much longer time. You can see where everything is and what's going to happen. The baserunning indicator isn't in an awkward place. You're able to judge where to throw it to.

Okay, now you get into the Show.

Someone hits the ball. The camera follows nothing but the ball (at least in all the videos, nobody has been willing to tell me whether you can change that absolutely god awful fielding view) and the infield is quickly out of sight. I can see barely any fans, if any, and almost no part of the stadium. All I see is the ball and the grass. More to the point, this is quite literally all I see. I can't see my fielders to tell me where I should move them, and by the time I can it's way too late to move them into position to catch the ball or even field it. The baserunner indicator (IMHO) is so awkwardly positioned that it takes me a few seconds to figure out where I need to throw the ball. By this time I'm probably invariably throwing home, trying to keep an inside the park home run from happening.

This is not user error, it's what I like to call BROKEN FIELDING. I took the liberty of being a LITTLE sarcastic to make my point, but I'm sure it stands pretty well on its own. You're saying that you are happy with auto fielding; I'm not. I want to field. Fielding is probably the most entertaining part of the game for me. I don't want to watch the CPU decide where to throw the ball, I want to decide for myself. It's much easier to do with a wide huge realistic (in terms of how MLB games are actually televised) fielding view where you can see everything, make the right judgements, ect. You can't do that if the fielding view is making you feel so damn claustrophobic that you freak out. I literally have a medical problem with Anxiety, and this just makes it worse for me.

I'm sure the fielding view is fine and dandy when you're not fielding, but just try it when you are. I've already heard people complaining about how difficult it is. If only they knew that the reason it's so difficult is so uneccessary, and that reason is because of the horrible, HORRIBLE fielding view.

          Re: Question

hopefully they will have collision detection like asb had when the ball bounces around after hitting a homerun. It would be cool to see the ball splash in the fountains in kansas city.

I don't AUTO field. I finally went, last week, to manual fielding, manual throw and it's the best I've encountered in any game. For me to say that is amazing, because I've always been an AUTO field, manual throw guy, not anymore. This really gets me more immersed in the game, especially when loading throws it so easy.

I still don't get it. The MEDIUM fielding view is fine. The LOW is way to low to get a feel, for me, and the HIGH is just way to high. I absolutley don't get how your fielders are out of view and too late to move them into position to field the ball. Sorry, I can't tell you how easy I find manual fielding in The Show.

Have u ever played the show??????

FYI - the fielding can be changed to medium or high (high is my preference) and I think the view is not bad once i got used to it (played MVP prior - ariel view). It is do able.

What different camera angle options does 2k have??? Does it have a high or ariel view???
