    Fielding question.

Is there an automatic fielder option? I say this because It seems like the cpu moves my fielders around and that I hardly have any control over there movement. Arrgh, this annoys me.

    Not that I'm aware of.

Can you be more specific for us? Give us an example? Thanks.

Well on any ball that is hit the player i am controlling just seems to move to the ball on his own and I have no control moving him. After I catch the ball I can move him but it just seems like the computer helps you out way too much and you dont have enough control over your fielders.

Like on a ground ball, to short lets say, the computer will move to whatever side the ball is hit and ends up picking up the ball before I even go to move the guy, lol.

I dont know, maybe i am too used to mvp where you seem to be in a lot more control over your players in the field.

Thanks. Will the CPU throw to the wrong base, the base that you don't want to throw to. Let's say there's a hit and run, you picked up on it and know you're only play is at first. Will the CPU throw to second anyway?

I've heard there isn't an assisted fielding option, but it seems like it's already in the game. Similar to how in ESPN NFL 2k5 and the Madden series how the player will move and do all his stuff if you don't do anything on the controller.

After hearing some horror stories regarding fielding, this could be a very good thing.

I believe the option to turn it off is in VIP Options. I was having the same trouble as you.

I forget what the option is called.

I don't have access to my Xbox right now so maybe someone else could check this. I believe there is a "fielding assist" option in your VIP options. Try that.

After tinkering with the setting, I don't think it helps much.

Maybe with the outfielders, but it still feels like the AI starts you in the right direction, and if you choose not to move the analog stick, it would complete the fielding portion of the play, and leave the throw up to you.

                    Weird

I just upped the difficulty level to All Star, to get more balls in play so I could see exactly what that setting does. The first batter I face smokes one up the middle, my fielders stay still, i make a diving stop on the lip of the grass out of the infield and throw a laser to first.

If all it takes to improve it is bumping the difficulty and keeping that slider off... Great.

                      Thrasha,
Are you playing with the Fielding speed burst on or off?

On. But I don't think that would have anything to do with the players being controlled by the AI at first... I thought that I could manually controlt he fielders speed burst, am I wrong?

Thats what I thought!!! Maybe with using the fielder burst we might be able to cut down on the infield hits by the CPU. I know some people have said that the infielders are not charge groundballs, I wonder if this will help that.

                            That might work

In a couple games though, I've only had one bad experience with infield hits. But if you start off fielding the ball by holding the R trigger than it might give you that extra oomph to make it to the ball in time.

Just looked under "Controller Layout" - Fielding without Ball. Says Right-Trigger is the fielder's Turbo. Have you guys tried this?
