    Breakpoint Pitching

    Who else loves this feature?

For the first time in a baseball game I've thought about how each pitch will break, and how that will work with the batter at hand. It makes game that much better when you're facing lineups with a mixture of lefties and righties in them.

It's very nice. A little harder to pinpoint pitches, which is always a great thing.

Plus, this game doesn't have that stupid "meat pitch" thing all of the time like K-Zone did. If you miss, you miss. You don't make a mistake.

100% in agreement. The system is just brilliant. I am actually thinking on the mound now. Who do I have on the mound. His curveball is a big sweeping one, so do I start it way out side the zone? Do I aim my slider here and take something off? There is just so much you can do with your pitches now.

I haven't had this much fun pitching in a video game in a loooong time.

When the cursor shrinks, do you press the button again to stop it in time?

Also, recall that you are setting the breakpoint. Before every inning that you go out to pitch, they'll preview your pitches, and the way that they break. In case you missed them at all, squeeze the R-trigger to see them yourself.

So if the pitch breaks down i put the cursor a lil higher then where i want the pitch to go?

Exactly. And then there's the whole thing with how much effort you want on your pitch, also.

Yes. Learn your pitchers and how their pitches break. Get out of the mindset of aiming where you want the pitch to go. Say if you have a sharp breaking sinker that you want to throw for a strike: Aim up in the zone.

                    I wouldn't know

My PS2 broke on me two years ago, purchased an Xbox and haven't looked back since.

Besides when I had a PS2, even if MLB had it, it was such an overall piece of crap that breakpoint pitching would make much of a difference.

2K games had gameplay sliders for 4 years. Go figure.

Well then you should be happy to know that MLB is greatly improved. If you don't want to buy another PS2 then i'd advise you not to read THE SHOW impressions thread. Made me get a new ps2 instantly

Oh and I don't really care which game had breakpoint pitching first...all i know is that EVERY game should have it because it's a great innovation.
