I haven't tested any of that yet. Could be the problem will require more than sliders... in other words, editing and lowering arm ratings. But it could be the "throw to the plate" programming is hard-coded into the game.

After last year, I might be inclined to first test the game on Pro (sliders at 50) if there are any glaring issues like this one. In 2K5, a couple of issues were resolved that way (passed ball glitch was one). The 'bigfnjoe theory' (as it's known and called) is they test their games on Pro level only, so issues that come up using Custom settings, might not be an issue on Pro.

Past that there are a few obvious sliders (aggression stuff) and maybe some not-so-obvious player ratings (anticipation, maybe?) that could be tweaked and might help. I can't get to the game right now, but I'll list anything I think of later.

Sorry if has already been discussed, but the problem is the computer never tries to hit the cut-off man, especially on balls hit to the fence.

        Any suggestion?

That's why I was saying it could be hard-coded into the game. Who knows? Regardless, something a bit screwy is going on here. The arms are obviously too juiced, and you have to wonder why Kush programmed them like that. I could see they were too strong in the vids last month, and commented on it a few times. Yet they didn't include Throwing sliders, and even removed the ones from last year??

Not trying to start a controversy, but what if they couldn't get the 'cut-off man' programming to work, ran out of time, and then 'fixed' it by making OF arms super-human? Again, who knows?

Wisdom and common sense suggests players throw to the plate because they can. So, the most obvious test to run is to lower OF arm ratings to 0, run some games, and see what happens. If they're still throwing directly to the plate and not to a cut-off man, then the next step is testing sliders. Past that, it becomes a programming issue.

Is there a CPU Throwing Aggression slider?

A simple OF arm strength slider would fix it. like MVP had. One for IF and one for OF.

This is easier to test than it maybe sounds. Set up a situational game with runners at second and third. Set contact and power sliders way up, Pitch Speed down and the AI Throw Strikes slider maxed. I always create another settings file for "Batting Practice-type" settings like these.

Now hit the ball and try to get guys home, and see how the CPU responds.

The ONLY way I can find to get realistic OF throws , Cutoffs ect is on Rookie then changes sliders to allstar and then start tweeking , Errors issue, lower meat ball pitch !
                  I currently working the sliders.
Its so nice when they hit the cutoff and walk the ball into the infield . I have seen alot of cool animations

I'm going to create a slider set on rookie as well and see if that makes a difference. The problem though is I hear it affects other sliders -- making user batting easier for example. And I'm already finding the swing stick too easy and forgiving.

just keep lowering the human contact and power slider until you feel it is challenging. That should do the trick.

I have contact at 5 right now. Any lower and I'll have to give my guys 5-Irons to swing, not bats. I'd switch to Classic batting, but they removed the fricking 2-button swing option. Sheesh.

I tried Pro and then adjusting and can't say I've noticed a major difference either.

I'm hoping I just don't have to go through and lower everyone's personal arm strength, but I'm starting to think that may be our only option in the end.

I just cranked up my running speed and lowered AI Fielding Aggression. That seems to help.

I can tell a big difference. weird......only problem I am having on rookie is the CPU is making too many errors. Even with the error slider at zero.
