    Double Switch

I'm not the biggest baseball-head in the world, and I have no clue about 2 things in baseball:

    1) The Double Switch
    2) The Infield Fly

How does the Double Switch work? I see it as an option in the Special Menu when I hit the White button (XBox). I remember people saying how the double switch was "broken" in 2k5 (didn't play), but for those who know how it works, is it "broken" again this year?

    Re: Double Switch

I can't get it to work this year (360) and I know how it is supposed to work. Little help anyone?

BTW: Infield Fly = Guys on 1st and 2nd or 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. A flyball in the infield, batter is automatically out so that the fielder doesn't purposely let the ball fall (because runners don't want to get doubled up) then turn a quick double or triple play.

Double switch usually ... I subbed my pitcher out in the 9 spot for Pena. Pena hits, Batter 1 gets a hit. Batter 2 ends the inning. Here if Pena and batter 2 play the same position you could insert pitcher in the 2 spot to keep him from hitting as quickly. Or if they don't play the same spot you bring a different guy for pena. Pitcher still put in 2 spot (keeps him from hitting sooner)

My problem is I just want to leave Pena in the game and it won't let me.

You have to back out after you select your pitcher. The interface makes it look like you have to sub in a different fielder, but you can back out and it will pop up one of the "Are you sure?" boxes. Think its that way incase you want to leave the player in, but have him play a different position then the pitcher is subbing in for.

So it does work tis year ? i tried it once , but I didnt do the backing out thing. It kept asking me to replace the fielder or something.

                Full steps are too

                1)PH for the pitcher.
2)Select the dont do anything option when the next half inning starts and tells you that you dont have a pitcher.
3)Goto the substitutions menu or left button and pick double switch.
4)Select the pitcher you want(one gripe here is it doesnt show the readiness bar like when normally subbing in a pitcher so you have to know who you have in the pin).
5)Then back our with the B button clicking ok on the boxes that pop up.

Should be able to do the same in the middle of an inning, but havent had the chance to try that one yet.

I quickly fired up a Sox/Cubs game, had the pitcher bat first, had Thome instantly pinch-hit. Then, I bunted three guys out, and tried to replace Konerko with a new pitcher. Then I pressed B, B, and then it brought me back to the menu where I can choose what kind of substitution I want. There was nothing about any text boxes popping up. The only way they would have popped up is if I continued with a replacement for Thome, and then they would have said "Double Switch complete" with an "OK" thing to click on.

I'll try it later, though. I can't quite play right now.

                        No it doesn't work.

I've tried every goofy thing you could think of to pull it off when I had the game. When you want to back out, it undoes what you did so you end up with your pinch hitter still the pitcher.

You also can't just change positions, it will complain you must replace a pitcher from the bullpen(game doesn't seem to have a problem with a pinch hitter pitching, but you can't bring a player from another position on the field to do it).

Na, it's broken like countless other things with this and most 2k sports games.
                        ...

I think some people here are confused about what a double switch is.

I have tried everything and there is no option that allows you to keep the PH in the game to play the field. That i whole purpose of making the double switch.

Well, that's not the ENTIRE purpose of making a double-switch. It's really just to drop the pitcher down from the due-up order. Keeping the pinch-hitter in is just a bonus, so that you don't have to use two guys.

                            But yes... it's broken.
