    The deal with pitching control

Here’s what it looks like for those who have been wondering:

Lowering you pitchers’ Control ratings while using Payoff pitching has no effect on how much control your User pitcher has. A 100 Control rating is the same as a 0 Control rating when using Payoff pitching. This is yet again another thing nobody bothered to test apparently.

The good news is lowering Control ratings while using Zone pitching, does in fact work. And it probably works because it worked last year, whereas Payoff pitching is new and obviously untested.

Furthermore, the Interface speed is much quicker this year, making it EXTREMELY TOUGH to use Zone pitching, and in particular with edited Control ratings.

Furthermore again – but don’t quote me until I test some more – it appears they fine tuned Zone pitching “misses”. Last year, a miss meant a pitch over the middle of the plate, every time. This year, it appears pitches that miss can end up in a variety of locations – most bad, sure, but that’s the way it should be.

Think I’ll be switching to Zone pitching. Now if only those CPU fielders could get with the program…

zone pitching ??? I may have to switch. With normal cursor pitching it is too easy to throw stirkes. eVen with the pitch interface slider at 100.

        Yep

I've noticed even when turning up the pitching interface speed not much changes when using the (insert new pitching mechanic name here that I can't remember).

Figures. Even with editing my pitchers control, it still was easy to throw strikes. WHO THE **** TESTS THESE DAMN GAMES!!!

Which are you guys using: BREAKPOINT or PINPOINT? I have been able to walk some batter's using Payoff Pitching with Breakpoint, but yeah once again they screwed-up with the ratings... Just like I said. Inside Edge & all the other NEW Features added mean nothing if the ratings are OFF..

You helped me out a lot last year w/mlb2k5 and after reading this from you I have a ?. I see that when you go to edit the pitcher control rating it's just a bar now instead of a bar with a #. Do you just guesstimate what half of the bar should look like when you go in to edit each pitcher's rating by half I believe is what you recommend?

              Thanks
              Jeff

Jeff before you actually go into the sliders, read the Player Profile. You should be able to see the actual Control Rating with the #. Write it down & go from there.

EDIT: You cannot see a # before you edit...

baa did you test editing pitchers control with both payoff pitch types "breakpoint" and "pinpoint"?

LOL!!! Thanks Joe, appreciate your help and dedication as always. I'm having a hard time retaining and loading my difficulty settings in my GM Career mode as well so I'm just having a time of it altogether, I know it's something stupid I am not doing. Just wish it was as easy as last year to edit ratings.

So what is better while using the payoff pitching interface? Should we use pinpoint or breakpoint for the pitch point?

Do we still get to have payoff pitches if we use the K Zone?

Depends on which Zone type you are using, which one are you using?

I tried both and they seem similar. You set the target and then a vertical and horizontal circle need to be lined up. I believe that is how it goes, but I only could do it once. Maybe I need more practice.
