Found a fix of sorts (for other issues)

Well I have only had 2K6 freeze on me once. So most of my complaints with the game were due to fielding issues, and wacky animations that were causing all sorts of strange things to happen. Some examples:

    1) Homeruns clearly not going over the fence but being called homers.

    2) Baserunners being called Out or Safe well before either the runner or ball got to the bag

    3) Horribly sluggish fielding controls... basically fielders NOT reacting to my controller movements.

    4) Bunts in which neither the catcher or pitcher make any effort to pick up.

    5) Plays at first base in which the runner clearly appears to have been thrown out, but is suddenly on second base.

Well these were a number of issues I was having with 2K6. During each of these moments, the game would run incredibly slow and you could clearly hear the 360 HD working overtime.

Then a number of people on the boards were claiming the freeze issue was actually a caching issue 2K6 experienced with the hard drive... and that got me thinking, could some of the weird things I was seeing in the game actually be a result of the game animations getting screwed up due to caching problems... maybe that play at first actually was the result of an overthrown ball to 1st, and I just never saw the animation... maybe the bunt I layed down dribbled just past the mound and there was actually no play the pitcher could have made... maybe that homerun was actually a homerun, but again the game engine couldn't keep up.

So I did a little research about the 360 and discovered there is no need whatsoever to load three games to their title screen and then put in 2K6... just clear your 360's cache. To do that 1) just put in a game, and let it fully load to the title screen... don't jump past any intro videos or cutscenes, let it load. 2) Shut down the 360, turn it back on without a disc, while it is turning on hold down the "A" button until you get to your 360 Gamer screen. This will clear your cache. 3) Put 2k6 back in and viola'

I was shocked... no more sluggish game controls... there is still fielder momentum to contend with, but your player will react to what you are doing. No more wacky phantom homeruns... or weird animations... Shocking!

This gives me a lot of hope for this title now. The upcoming patch should theorhetically fix these issues. Then hopefully some of the other weird stat tracking bugs can be eliminated in the future.

I put in a different game. But I really see no reason why you couldn't just use 2K6 as your initial load disc... you are just loading a game fully to it's main menu.

You can find more info at: http://www.althack.com/index.php?opt...d=43&Itemid=38

I've also been using Blitzburgh's Sliders from the 2KSports forums with awesome results (eliminates the outfielder cannon arms)... I am now actually having fun with 2K6 Baseball.

Is it just me or when you hold A/Clear the cache the initial "xbox 360" startup/logo goes faster than usual?
