This week I've been stuck in Six Sigma training. For those of you who aren't familiar with Six Sigma... No, it's not some secret society, it is however, the measure of quality that strive for near perfection. It's a disciplined, data driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process from -- manufacturing to transactional and product to service. The main objective is to eliminate defects!
To make a long story short... To achieve Six Sigma, a process must not produce more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A Six Sigma defect is defined as anything outside of customer specifications. A Six Sigma opportunity is then the total quantity of chances for a defect.
Key Concepts of Six Sigma:
1. Critical to Quality: Attributes most important to the customer
2. Defect: Failing to deliver what the customer wants
3. Process Capability: What your process can deliver
4. Variation: What the customer sees and feels
5. Stable Operations: Ensuring consistent, predictable processes to improve what the customer sees and feels
6. Design for Six Sigma: Designing to meet customer needs and process capability!
Now image for a moment a game created using Six Sigma!
