    MLB2K6 making me think about a PS3

Please don't flame me... I own MLB2K6 for 360 and do not own or have played The Show so my comments are based on speculation The Show is going into a better direction.

I am very disapointed like most of the people who are playing MLB2K6 for 360. I have been thinking lately about buying a PS3 because the MLB2K series is so far behind two straight years and Microsoft is not making any attempts to resurrect the High Heat series. I am a casual gamer, play mostly Madden, Call of Duty 2 or other sports games which will be available on both systems.

I am wondering how many people out there who are casual gamers would consider something like this?

I've already own the 360. I have 3 kids and a wife that is an accountant. The decision is much clearer for me.

If I was younger, I don't know if one game would sway me to buy another system or not.

I'm usually a sports person and own Obvilian, Tomb Raider and Kameo outside the sports areana.

Well, there is nothing that says SCEA is going to be successful with their first
attempt at "The Show" on the PS3. Who knows what will be left out, what glitches will be in the PS3 game, what new thing might be included that doesn't work correctly, etc. There's nothing guaranteed.

Kush has A LOT to fix in this game for next year. From reading all the comments it's not clear whether or not they are capable of correcting so many glaring things wrong in the 360 version.

Perhaps a PS2 and this years version of The Show would be the cheaper way to go if you're looking for just a better baseball game?

There is nothing wrong with your train of thought. If it makes you feel better - I have played Sony's baseball games for the past 3 years. 2 years ago the game was boring and lagged behind the competition. Last year's version was very good - one of my favorite baseball games ever as of matter of fact - but there were some major issues. 1) There was a MAJOR freezing issue(sound familiar) that alot of people had. I think it had alot to do with the memeory cards. I had quite of few freezes myself until I would remoive my memory card when I played. 2) The franchise mode - while loaded - was very simplistic and outdated for the offseason part. The game itself played very well and this effort was the foundation for MLB:06 the show. To be honest - this years version - while great - is a minor leap from last year. It's more of a upgrade rather than a new game.

I say all that to say this - MLB2K6 has potential. And hopefully they can learn and move forward and learn from there mistakes ads Sony did. The Show is an excellent game and there is no shame in wanting a good/bug free game to play. Hopefully you won't have to resort to getting another system for that to happen.

Couldnt have said it better myself. I too tried MLB last year and couldnt do it. I think the reason the game is so solid is because its so boring. Theres nothing really innovative in the game. Its basically the same stuff weve seen in baseball video games for years. Theres nothing for them to mess up.

2K has the exact opposite problem IMO. Theres so busy adding features and innovations every year they never actually perfect anything. They just replace it with another new feature that doesnt work well. I wouldnt be surprised if 2k scrapped the one good thing in 2K6 (IE) and add some totally different feature next year.

            To the OP:

I am in the same boat. I wont' get a PS3 right away because I am enjoying the 360 too much, but I want a High Heat esque baseball game and if the PS3's baseball game is like that I will definitely considering getting it. Otherwise, probably not.

Makes me wonder how MS feels about Kush right now.
