I just completed a 9 inning game in my franchise and here are some thoughts.
Positives
No Freezes. I deleted my old VIP and didn't have a franchise saved since I could never get past the first few innings. The entire game as I got deeper into it I grew more and more nervous, but I just lost to the Dodgers 8-3!!! I've never been happier with a loss in my life.
The Fielding seems a bit more responsive, but I am not sure if it is just because my imagination or what but I found it easier to field and I tried different views, but overall it felt better and it was actually enjoyable. I still need to learn how to change fielders, dive, jump ect, but the fielding engine is decent.
Classic batting seems perfect to me. I never tried it before the patch, but I experience no lag at all when using it. I realize some people like swing stick, but I like simpler mechanics ( Hell I miss the batting cursors ) To me hitting feels very natural and quite easy to get the hang of. I use Low Camera with no Zoom.
Negative things patch didn't seem to address.
Commentary. When Gagne entered the game Jon Miller said "He had 1 win last year" but honestly that sort of thing isn't a big deal to me, it could be better but it isn't a game killer, just poor choice of stat reference.
Framerate. The framerate still drops quite a bit when throwing the ball. I am running on a TV that upscales to 1080i and whenever a ball is thrown there is still quite a drop in framerate. I am going to try playing the game in 480p to see if there is any difference. If there is I'll have to play in the setting, but I'll sacrifice resolution for framerate any day ( though with this graphics engine it shouldn't even be an issue.
I haven't played online yet, but if I discover anything I'll let you guys know.
Overall I'm happy I can at least play the game and judge it on its merits.
