Typically it's best to play games/DVD's in the native resolution of your TV.

Since my TV's native resolution is 720p, I've always had it that way.

yea mine is 480p. i was thinking about getting a new tv that has 720 or the othe r one 1080. but i dont know. is it true that 1080 is the best 720 is in second and 480 is last.

720p/1080i has pros/cons each


i hear that fast moving objects --like sports events--that 720p is better

not sure about video games though

You'd have to check the specs, but a common rule of thumb is this:

CRT - 1080i

LCD/DLP/Plasma/LCoS - 720p

1080i is the highest resolution out of the 3..But I wouldn't call it 'best'..Really depends on your display..

Usually the tv manual tells you your native resolution. if you have one of those hdtv's that is also a computer monitor then the product manual will definitely tell you. Not totally sure but I think 480p is comparable to 800 by 600 in computer resolution and 720p is comparable to 1024 by 768 on a standard 4:3 screen.

I have a 27 inch non widescreen sony wega trinitron HDTV.....it supports all 3 but I would guess my native would be 720 right?

Pmogs10 - Probably 1080i. That sounds like a CRT and not a fixed pixel display (DLP, LCD, Plasma).

i am sorry i really dont want to go too off the topic. but i was thinking bout getting a new tv. right now i have a lcd 27inch with 480p. what tv should i get to get the best in video games? and regular tv?

Depends on your budget. I'd say CRT..

Depends on your budget. I'd say CRT..

i dont want to spend no more that 1000. maybe anywhere between 600-900 and the size can be no more then 30 inches

i just put my TV on 720 and actually had a lag free no jumping game, it was great, getting into those big bases loaded situations and not having to try to hit a ball that is chopping across the screen and seems like its moving 200mph
