How do you pitch?

I am doing a bad job of locating my pitches...they keep gettng pass the catcher, at times i think I have figured it out and then I throw one to no where. I rented the game from Hollywood Video and I like it so far. I jus can't figure the pitching...by the way

i am using breakpoint, but can't seem to figure out the RT and movement arrows.

I am an MVP convert

Any help would be rewarded with jubilation & glee!!!!

I don't think the book tells you, but you need to push the pitch button you select twice, longer you hold the button the first time more effort goes into the pitch, you need to hit the button again as the cursor gets smaller to get your location. Hope this helps, but i believe this has been covered in another thread.

2k Sports' website has some helpful tutorial vids. Snake described it in a nutshell, you need to press it twice. I'm having a lot of fun with the pitching system especially with the integration of Inside Edge.

Ive noticed that in 2-player games, if you get the pitching circle close together, the location of the pitch wont show up.

BUT...if you dont, the opposing player will see the location of the pitch...ball or strike.

I was playing a 2-player game with a buddy and he kept seeing where all my pitches were going. When I started to close up the pitching circle even more, I noticed he couldnt see any pitches except if they were in his 'Batters Eye'.

So, even if you give the pitch maximum effort/break or whatever, make sure that the circle is at least more than 50% closed.

I dont know if that helps or not.

I can't recall how it is worded in the VIP settings but there are 2 distinct ways of pitching in this game. The default is the ball icon shows you where the ball will break, the other method is the ball icon will show where the pitch will cross the plate.

Very important difference there. Nice touch in this otherwise VERY flawed game. Sorry to say but 2Ksports has lost me as a customer (a loyal one at that).

TheSnake hit the nail on the head. I had the same problem when I first started playing this game. Now that I know how to pitch, I really like the way 2K handled this.

This game overall is really starting to grow on me. Once I get the running game down, I will FINALLY be ready to start my franchise. I am so used to hitting the left trigger to advance that I send everybody home and get caught in a run down for inning ending double and triple plays.
