    Baserunning Help?!

I cant figure out the baserunning in this game at all.
Everytime I try to get a double if I am safe my runner will continue on to third. What are the #'s in the corner of the screens for when you are running the bases?
Any help at all would be great.

    Re: Baserunning Help?!

If you press the corresponding botton for a baserunner (ie:A) and then press the trigger, you advance once base, you'll see the number "2" in the window meaning he's heading to 2nd. Press the trigger again and it will say "3" in the runner window. Press it once more and he'll go home which says "H" in the window.

Remember, press it only ONE time and your runner will advance. Its hard to be disciplined cause in most games, you're used to mashing the botton to get a runner to advance. In this game, you only got to press it once and they'll go no matter if the play is close or they were already beat. It takes awhile to master but once you do, you'll set all your runners up.

**On a side note, this is the most unorthadox and flat out dumb baserunning model I do believe has ever been witnessed in the dozens of years baseball games have been in exsistence. I thought Coleco baseball was bad with the spinning wheel and corresponding colors on the controller but 2Ks model is horrendous. Its very unnessacary and unorganized. Good concept but piss poor execution.

Thanks! You just answered the biggest question I had about this game. It might actually be half descent now. I was getting sick of getting guys thrown out because I had no idea how baserunning worked.

It's honestly the worst baserunning I have ever seen. When not in Baseburner Mode, it's pressing left to advance the runners. First time I decide to use Baseburner Mode, I press the left button and it sends the runners BACK to the base. The game has nice intentions, but the controller was programmed terribly and the baserunning is flawed.

I agree baserunning is a joke. It's a fresh breath of air when I return to play league games in NCAA 2006... now that's a baserunning engine.

Anyone try to sacrifice? You have to have super fast reflexes to get your thumb from x back to the swing stick to bunt. It's nearly impossible for me.

You can also press the directinal-pad Left(everyone advance 1 base) and or d-pad Right(everyone retreat 1 base). D-pad up or down does nothing. The the Trigger method is for individual baserunner-control.

About sac-bunt... the game uses Cue-Steal method(I like this!) so that you can cue it up before pitcher even throws a ball(L-stick up plus X-button) to steal 2nd. Press L trigger once(or twice if you feel lucky) to leadoff once or twic for a decent jump. He'll take off after the pitcher pitches the ball. You can let it steal or do a sac bunt(remember the L and R) triggers, press either of them to bunt to either side of the approaching pitcher to have any chance being safe at 2nd base.

The game itself is.... just got way so much stuff that it's fun when finding and getting used to it(like you need to slow down as you approach the outfield marker, to avoid overrun it, it's very well done, actually), but so much investigation is involved to find things that bits and pieces of info are throughout the game.

I like the game a lot... as I dig deeper into it I seem to find more and more intriguing things about it. I am officially addicted to the game. I just hope that next version of the game with have all-these ironed out, better training mode(essential!), and graphics that approach at least that of MVP 2005.
