Why should i pick MLB 2K6(xbox) over MVP 05?
ive heard great things about mvp 05. However, ive always felt that 2k has been good at baseball games also. How is 2k6's animations? any good? does jistics sliders really help the game that much?.....thanx so much guysTags: None -

you shouldn't pick either-I'd shine em' both and get The Show. Seriously-your'e dealing with apples and oranges here. Myself-I like 2K6 somewhat more because of the pitching interface. I could go on with the pros and cons of both-such as MVP IMO has better fielding-but-in the end it is all subjective opinion. Best bet-rent or borrow both and see what works for YOU. Both are good games in their own right-and-if you do have a PS2,I'd really look into The Show.Last edited by coffeeholic; 06-12-2006, 09:41 PM.ByurrulzIdon'tfollow -
Re: Why should i pick MLB 2K6(xbox) over MVP 05?
I have shyed away from baseball recently. I was a long time Cardinal fan, but couldn't stomach the Hollywood style homerun derby between steriodians. I've moved to AZ and have grown to like this D'back team. With that being said, I've stayed away from actually playing a baseball game since about 2000. I've tried a few bball games and there just was no interest until now.
I am loving MLB 2k6. There's a simplicity to it that's been missing from baseball games for years. I LOVE the pitching interface, especially if you buy the inside edge reports on the batters. And it's not really an aim pitch here and that's where it goes. You really have to think about the movement of the pitch style. The Hitter's Eye takes some getting used to, but it's a must once you get used to it.
I simmed the season to this last series with the Mets. My first game I lost 5-1, then I won 3-2 to close the series by hitting a few key dingers. I was pitching ace ball with Batista in the first game with the upcoming Giants series tomorrow night. I was hitting really well, too and had a 4-0 lead with Papa Grande warming up in the bottom of the 8th and the game FROZE. AGGHHHH!!! And I had actually produced some runs instead of whacking guys home.
Oh well, I gave it another go tonight and won 2-1 in the bottom of the 10th. It was 0-0 until the Giants rattled my pitcher and loaded the bases. They got one in, but my reliever was unbelieveable with the shaky ball pitch locator. He struck 2 out and made the third fly out. In the bottom of the 10th, Chad Tracy banged one out to even it. Next batter, Eric Byrnes. Walk off!!! Beautiful!
I am stoked about this game and I can't really compare to MVP 05. I did try MVP 04 and hated the stupid pitch meter idea. Same thing as in MVP NCAA 06. Stupid, stupid, stupid!
Anyway, I hope my rant helps influence your decision.Comment

Re: Why should i pick MLB 2K6(xbox) over MVP 05?
I'm going off the main subject for a minute to ask Dizturbd a question-are you playing 2K6 on the 360 or Xbox or PS2? the reason I ask is because I'm playing it on the regular Xbox and last night I thought I had a freeze. Well,I paused the game, came back-then back to life! another time,I thought I had a freeze and what happened was I had a runner between first and second just standing there. Once I realized that-I sent him back to first-poof-back to the game. I don't know about the 360,but I was pleased to find my "freezes"had a cure. Nice read you had there too-glad you found a game of hardball you can appreciate coming back to.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Why should i pick MLB 2K6(xbox) over MVP 05?
i've had several freezes as well (reg. xbox), but I think that might be due more to my old *** Thompson drive than the actual game.
As for your original question, I keep going back and forth. Overall thought, I think MVP has more longevity to it. The CPU roster handeling is much better in MVP, as well as pretty much everything once the ball is in play (feilding, baserunning, ball physics, etc.) This is HUGE. Dynasty mode is also better, better CPU management, full control of minor leagues, good cpu gm moves for the most part, etc.
However, I think that the pichting and hitting models are vastly superior in MLB 2k6. This is also HUGE. I think the graphics, presentation, and commentary are all better in MLB.
So right now Im going back and forth, playing a game here and there of both. I think ultimately though I may get the action replay and go back to MVP...Comment

Re: Why should i pick MLB 2K6(xbox) over MVP 05?
I too do the back and forth thing with 2K6 and The Show. If The Show had the pitching interface of 2K6 and a little more belivable momentun-a graphics upgrade-they'd have the be all-end all hardball game for me. Maybe on the PS3? At the end of the day though-I find myself using The Show for regular play and 2K6 for the WBC. I know the question was about MVP vs 2K6. But MVP is as dry as a martini in presentation and that's 75% of a baseball sim for me-and I can get that from 2K6 or The Show.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Why should i pick MLB 2K6(xbox) over MVP 05?
Coffee, I am playing on the 360. I have had a few weird instances were a "slight" 30 second freeze came back, but those ultimately lead up to the final freeze. It always seems to happen when players switch directions to/from the dugout. The player model wigs out and then the game hangs. I've also had a few long freezes between the time I press the start button and when the pause menu showed up on screen.
Last night I had another pretty remarkable experience, too. I struck out 16 batters with Claudio Vargas and won 4-2. I am still trying to get used to the dive stick and gave up a 2 run inside the park homerun when it should've been a flyout. But, I am still loving this game.Comment

Well, I can't really fairly compare without seeing the regular xbox version, but the player models look a lot better than those goofy big headed dudes in MVP. The graphics are on par with the other 2k games on the 360.Comment

Re: Why should i pick MLB 2K6(xbox) over MVP 05?
I played MVP on the PC and it did seem the players had big heads and the most lame announcing a sports game could offer. As for the 360-I gotta get one of those things. Piggy bank may get broke open in a few months.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment
