Quick Question before I buy this game..

Can you lower the number of innings you play.. 9 inning games are just too long.. would like to only play 6 or so.. also can you set the sim innings to 6 as well..

Yes, you can lower the innings. I dont know about the sim innings though. Me thinks that if you lower it, its global for the entire league.

We can? In Season mode as well? BTW original poster, this game is extra long, single game usually lasts about 1 hour and 20 minutes for me. It's probably because I am a very selective hitter, and I draw plenty of walks and don't usually swing until there are 2 strikes against me. I throw a lot of Balls as a pitcher too, but computer tend to swing a lot and I get about 7 k's per game. I get struck out a lot too, about 5 - 8 per game. I should hit the Sliders and make them not swing so much.... but it's so fun to strike people out! heh

Its somewhere under gameplay options. You have to press the L or R trigger or for PS2, L1 or R1 to go to it. Its in the options to turn DHs off and whatnot. I dont know if you can do it once your season starts but probably before you start.

OK, going to buy this game today (360 version).. (got a $40 GC to Best Buy).. is it possible to play less games per season in franchise mode? How is the Create a Player feature?

I think there is a way to shorten seasons but I honestly cannot remember 100% one way or the other.

The create a player is alright, not amazing, but it does what it needs to do. Appearance isn't as tweakable as you might hope but in terms of skills you can do almost anything. The only real negative in terms of assigning skills are that the game uses bars that you basically have to eyeball in terms of how much ability points you're giving a player. A number system like what was used in the past would have been much easier to use...

I absolutely hated this game and I'm sure you will too. Sliders did not make the game any better. There just is no baseball for us 360 people.

Out of my 5 attempts to play a game, on a brand new disk, patch loaded, HDD formatted.. 3 of them froze.. The last attempt, I disconnected the HDD and I got through all 9 innings.. sucks, but the 2 games I got through I thoroughly enjoyed..

I was going to suggest yesterday you consider renting first. I did, and while the game seemed sort-of-okay-I-suppose, the overwhelming number of problems just made it too aggravating to warrant a purchase.

Yeah, I figured that because I was buying so late that whatever freezing issues there were would be fixed whether being a newer disk, or the patch would resolve the issue.. I don't have a problem playing with out the HDD as I have a mem card, but I shouldn't have to worry about that..

I don't have a problem playing with out the HDD as I have a mem card, but I shouldn't have to worry about that..

The thing is though the game files on the HD screw up other games as well. I started having all sorts of freezing/delay problems with Oblivion, and after trying a number of different fixes without success, it suddenly occured to me to try deleting the MLB 2K6 save files left over from renting the game a couple months ago. Did that: problem instantly solved.

I remember a time when games actually worked, plus were jam-packed with features and modes and stuff... years ago, before the exclusive licensing thing.
