current gen
I am curious to know, are they making Mlb2k7 for playstation 2? I have only seen information for the 360 and I don't play games enough nor do I have the extra money to go out and buy a 360 for one game. I get a new baseball game every year and have the show and mvp but wanna try something else and was thinking about mlb2k7. If anyone has any information on this game for the playstation 2 I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.Tags: None -

Re: current gen
i know at least mlb 07 the show will be available for ps2 and psp.
i havnt seen any information for 2k7 on ps2, but IGN does have a listing for it.
obviously their effort is going towards the 360 version though, if theres a ps2 version its likely going to be a minimal effort.Comment

Re: current gen
I'm guessing no. I'm also guessing that the 2K7 version for the PS2 will be complete garbage. What am I basing this on? The difference between College Hoops 2k7 for the PS2 and Xbox 360. It's not even close. They put no effort into the PS2 version at all. Thats why these games are only 20 bucks now. Because they have admittedly given up. Get this game for the PS2 at your risk, relizing that there is a 99% chance that it will suck worse than last years version. Thats sucks, but IMO, that is exactly what is going to happen.Uncle Ray Ray wants to Play!!Comment

Re: current gen
Because michaeldu, Microsoft and Sony understand that some of us don't have the disposable income to pay $300 or more for a new system when the old one is working just fine. And just as a sidenote, not everyone cares about newer graphics. Some of us just want better gameplay. Ever play NHL 94, Tecmo Super Bowl, RBI Baseball? They still hold up perfectly. And I'm not the only one who thinks this:

Continuing to make previous generation titles is beneficial to them because it takes very little effort, costs very little money, and not doing it alienates a large portion of their clientele that may not have the financial means (or interest for that matter) in spending that kind of money.
Also, it continues to send the brand out to more homes, and until the PS3 and XBOX 360 are average consumer household items (2 or more years from now) the majority of people will continue to play the previous gens or at least hand them down to their younger family members. Sure, Vista will help 360s become more common, but we're years away from 360s or PS3s being as common as PS2s are now. Lastly, game producers are just starting to get a hint of an idea as to how to remodel their product for the new graphics engines. Look how long it took some of the best XBOX and PS2 titles to come along. When did Okami come out? Gran Turismo 4? ESPN 2K5?
If I'm Sony and Microsoft, better my customers buy ANY of my product rather than any of my competitors' products. An angry customer that abandons a brand rarely comes back. And right now they're literally fighting for all of us to stay or come back. You know what Sony and Microsoft are more scared of than anything right now? Cell phone games, the Nintendo DS, and simple little online Flash games. Y'know why? Cause they're easy, uncomplicated, inexpensive, and everyone (young and old, men and, for the first time in HUGE numbers, women) are playing them. More 24-32 year olds are playing video games now than ever and they're doing it more than watching TV or movies. What they're not doing is dishing out 300 plus for entertainment.
Anyway, I'm digressing. My main answer to your question, "Why not focus all their energy into the current gen." is... cause many of us can't afford it and they know it.Comment

Re: current gen
Bugs from the 2K6s weren't fixed or removed from the game. And modes promised in the game are no where to be found. So we are saying why release the same game with the same bugs?
A developer may come on the board with good intentions and tell you how much the PS2/XBOX improved and when you get it's the same pile of crap.
I wanted NBA 2K7 XBOX to be good man, but came pissed off. So disappointed that I never put another game in the XBOX after I returned 2K7.
I personally just don't want people to get ripped off.Comment

Re: current gen
I thought NBA 2k7 on Xbox was an improvement over 2k6 (mainly due to on-the-fly subs) and I'm happy with it. However, I'm much more skeptical about MLB 2k7 on Xbox because I hear 2k6 was a piece of crap (never played it), and I'm guessing that 2k7 on Xbox is going to be a roster update of 2k6 and not a port from the "improved" 360/ps3 versions. With that in mind, I'm working on some updated rosters and mods for good ol' High Heat 2002 for my PC. I love the gameplay on it, so I figure why not update it, especially if 2k7 for the Xbox is going to be a piece of crap, albeit a $20 piece of crap. Unless I hear otherwise, I'm probably going to stay away from the "last gen" version of it.Comment

"I personally just don't want people to get ripped off."
When you voluntarily buy something, if it doesn't meet your expectations, that's not getting ripped off. And listening to the "interviews" with producers and taking them too seriously is like reading the testimonials on movie posters and believing them when they say things like, "The greatest movie of the year" on something like Dreamgirls.
And please refrain from jumping back with how much you loved that movie if you loved that movie. It's not what we're talking about, it was just an example.Comment

In a way that's being ripped off to me. Same situation when a producer on the boards said that the NIT was in the last gen versions.
Re: The player lock The producer did PM me back and said he didn't know why it wasn't included in the final build, and said sorry. Hey that was great of him for even responding.
This is why I say be wary of MLB 2K7 and it's $19.99 price tag. All the bugs may not even be fixed. Even if you have no funds for a PS3 and 360, take a wait and see approach.
Netflix and increased releases dates for HD-DVD and Blue Ray are all I need. 300 is sure is tempting but I wait till August - November for home viewing. I still haven't recovered from Superman Returns.Comment
