    I wonder...

... if we're seeing so many pop-ups and fly-outs, etc. in the videos because the user at bat is always pulling back and then pushing forward on the analog stick...

Doing that produces a power swing, whereas simply pulling back and letting go hits more for contact, and typically a line drive.

    Thoughts?

I am sure the human user has something to do with it... But I am watching this carefully because it is a big red flag in my book!

It also appears that it can be done on command no matter what the pitch is.

i dont know what to tell you man but as far as im concerned even if thats the case, it doesnt make sense. i mean even if you hit for power all the time your going to see a variety of hit. sheffield hits for power on ever swing lol, but he doesnt fly out to te warning track every time. i dont even think we should be speculating on this yet because reguardless of what we "think" is going on in these videos, its not going to clear anything up or make this or that "ok" or "better" when we get a 3 inning clip from ign or gamespot it will be evident what exactly the issue is.

That's been my thought the whole time... which is why I wish that next year they go to a "one-button" swing (of course, in this case it would only be a "one-right-stick-maneuver" swing).

I hope to God this is not the case, though. Last year I just adjusted all of my sliders around the thrust-forward power swing so that I got realistic results with them, but this year if there are just fly balls (for the most part), no matter the power slider, etc... it won't help.

Then reason you are seeing it is because the users are throwing it right down the middle. Look at most of those pitches also they are probably playing on an easy level too. Just wait for the demo and other thing to come out. To see what it is really like.

ON the 360 one. I like the way they had that swing stick.

Well, what I mean is that I wish that there weren't two different maneuvers to differentiate a contact swing with a power swing. I wish they were just both the same swing (and, if they really need to, I guess they can keep the safety swing). I'm sure that most people will also appreciate it as well, because I think they would all much rather hold up their swing by letting go of the right thumbstick.

I hear you, but to me that swing stick felt real, becaues timming was very important. The truth is players have two swings. One for power and one for contact. Some players are always swinging for the fences and some. And some just over swing all the time. NOt all hitters do that, som just try to make good contact and if the ball goes out of the Park better yet! I know I like that pwoer swing when I have Bonds up, or a power hitter

So to me that's up to the player to decide his own swing, and may be based on their power and home run ratings. You'll never see Burnitz make a contact swing or Vizquel make a power swing... so why allow it?

I believe we are. I also believe some the games we are seeing are being played on the easiest level. On the debug videos, the score was something like 21-3.

                      I agree,
I want the flow of the game to reflect each individuals capacities...I would like to have one hitting button for all players, and each player would swing for contact or power depending on their individual tendencies...

So because it is on the easiest level you cannot have good hit variety? By the time you get up to the harder levels the hit variety will be there? C'mon guys! There is something off, there needs to be adjustments made!

you guys realize in the redsox-pirates video that the people playing the game were losing to the computer by 15 runs right? and in those other videos where it appears that every pitch is down the middle, it really isn't. when you play with two human players on one console you aim with the invisible icon and vibration, but when you actually throw the pitch the meter cant be invisible so it shows up right in the middle. the actual pitch isnt in the middle every time

I just realized I haven't seen anyone get walked. Walks must not be in the game!

Really, we've seen short clips. How can you judge the gameplay on short clips?
